So, What’s This Rally All About?

This rally is about remembering a great mate, supporting a great cause, and bringing the scale flying community together.

Our goal is to raise awareness and money for Fight MND, with 100% of all pilot entry fees donated to the cause.

In March 2024, we said goodbye to our great mate Steven Miller, call sign “Iceman.” Steve was one of those genuinely good blokes you don’t meet every day. He had a naturally supportive nature and a way of instilling confidence in everyone he met.

Steve loved flying model aircraft and enjoyed pushing himself to improve his skills. Just as much, he loved travelling to different clubs, meeting new people and enjoying the social side of attending rallies. For Steve, it was never just about the flying — it was about the people, the friendships and having a good time together.

Moving forward, our plan is to take the Southern Scale Rally to different clubs throughout southern NSW. Each club will have the opportunity to host the rally, help spread awareness of Fight MND, and raise some money for a cause that means so much to us.

So, this year, head to Canberra Model Aircraft Club (CMAC) and join us for a relaxed weekend of scale aeroplanes, good company, plenty of laughs and, most importantly, raising a bit of coin for Fight MND.

Come along, enjoy the flying, catch up with old mates, make some new ones — and help us keep Iceman’s spirit flying.

The Southern Scale Rally

The Southern Scale Rally is being hosted by the Canberra Model Aircraft Club (CMAC) this year.

Our goal remains the same: to raise money and awareness for the Fight MND organisation.
All entry fees will be donated to Fight MND.

Camping is available at the field, and the canteen will be open for breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, with delicious pastries proudly supplied by Three Mills Bakery

We also have the continued support of Scale Aeroproducts , along with our new sponsor, Advanced Radio. We greatly appreciate the support of all our sponsors in helping us make this event possible.

The field will be available from Friday, with free flying available. Free flying will continue until 10am Saturday, at which point the Southern Scale Rally will officially start.

So come on down—or up—and enjoy a great weekend of flying, good company and model aircraft, all while helping us raise much-needed money and awareness for Fight MND.
