Wes Hinton Competes at Prestigious St Andrews Links Trophy
Keperra Country Golf Club’s reigning Men’s Club Champion, Wesley Hinton , has continued his impressive rise in amateur golf, recently competing in the prestigious St Andrews Links Trophy in Scotland.
Recognised as one of the premier amateur tournaments in the world, the St Andrews Links Trophy attracts many of the game’s leading amateur players and is contested over the historic Old Course and New Course at St Andrews, the Home of Golf.
Competing against an elite international field of 144 players, Wes produced a strong performance to finish tied for 31st at even par after rounds of 70, 71, 74, and 72. Importantly, he comfortably made the cut and earned the opportunity to play the final rounds on the iconic Old Course. In an outstanding achievement, Wes was the only Australian player to progress through to the final 36 holes of the championship.
The result continues a remarkable period of success for Wes, who has established himself as one of Australia’s leading amateur golfers through a series of outstanding performances both at home and now abroad.
Wes will now continue his international campaign by competing in the English Men’s Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship (Brabazon Trophy), one of the United Kingdom’s most prestigious amateur events. He will then travel to contest the Scottish Men’s Open Championship later this month, providing further opportunities to test his game against many of the world’s highest-ranked amateurs.
The Club congratulates Wes on his performance at St Andrews and wishes him every success as he continues to represent Keperra Country Golf Club, Queensland and Australian amateur golf on the international stage.

A picture-perfect day welcomed the 130 competitors in this year’s Gents Foursomes Championship, with the course finally basking in some much-needed sunshine.

The father-and-son combination of Matthew and Ben Dowling were looking to break through after several years of attempting to win the Gents Foursomes title. An opening-round score of 3-over-par 75 gave them a five-shot lead over several pairs, including defending champions Michael Carruthers and Jarrod Mann, heading into the afternoon’s final round.

A second-round score of 74 put the result beyond doubt, with Matt and Ben finishing on a 36-hole total of 149 to secure a convincing seven-shot victory.

Finishing as runners-up were defending champions Michael Carruthers and Jarrod Mann, who recorded a 36-hole total of 156.

Congratulations to Matt and Ben Dowling on a well-earned and thoroughly deserving championship victory.

One of golf's rarest achievements was recorded at Keperra this week, with Tim Roach making an incredible albatross on the 11th hole of the North Course. Just his second hole of the day.

For context, the odds of an amateur golfer making an albatross are estimated at around 1 in 6 million, making it significantly rarer than a hole-in-one. To put that into perspective, many golfers will witness several aces during their lifetime, but may never see an albatross.

Congratulations Tim on achieving one of the most elusive feats in golf. A truly extraordinary accomplishment. (In true modest Tim style - he didn't even think it worthy of telling the Club - thanks to his playing partner Jamie for capturing the moment).

Good luck to our Women's Midweek Pennant side who today are taking on Virginia GC at Royal Queensland in the final match of the season. A win or squared Match will see them win this year's Pennant. All the best to the Players and Caddies.

We’re proud to share that Keperra Country Golf Club has once again been recognised as The Ripper GC - MyGolf Centre of the Term—for the third time.

This award is particularly meaningful as it reflects the strength and success of our Junior Golf Program. Developing the next generation of golfers is something we place enormous importance on, and it’s fantastic to see that commitment recognised at this level.

This achievement is a testament to the dedication and passion of our team in creating an environment where young golfers can learn, improve, and enjoy the game. A special congratulations to our Coaches, Chris and Jake, along with facilitator Peter, for their outstanding contribution to this result.

Yesterday, the Keperra Weekend Women's Team took on Nudgee GC at McLeod today, going down 6–1.

Despite the score line, the result didn’t reflect the standard of golf played. A number of players bettered their handicaps, an outstanding effort, but sadly it simply wasn’t their day.

Kea and Ange deserve special recognition for their determination, both battling hard to square their matches as GA underdogs.

Once again, the caddy support was excellent. A big shoutout to Kate Outridge on her caddying debut, playing an important role in helping Kea secure a half.

A big congratulations to our Midweek Women’s Pennant Team, who this morning secured a strong victory over Ashgrove Golf Club, with the match played at Redcliffe GC.

The final result was 4.5 to 2.5, with wins to Ally Maguire, Kymmi Roberts, Kaelene Clarke (again), and Michelle Lavin, while Julie Watson secured an important half in her match.

The team now heads to Royal Queensland next week for the final round of the season, where they will take on Virginia GC. KCGC remains tied at the top of the pennant ladder alongside Royal Queensland with one round to play. With RQ having a bye next week, a win or a halved match for KCGC will be enough to secure the pennant.

Another fantastic team performance, with the side placing itself firmly in the box seat heading into the final round.
