WELCOME TO THE EELS, SAM ASHMAN!

The good news rolls on, we are thrilled to announce the signing of Sam Ashman for the 2026/27 season.

Sam joins the Wick from Hampshire, bringing an impressive cricket résumé with him. The 19-year-old has represented Hampshire 2nd XI and has been a consistent performer for the Hampshire Academy in the Southern Premier League over the past three seasons.

Sam has also previously spent time playing cricket in Australia at Portland CC and comes to Elsternwick with a reputation as an excellent club person. His experience extends beyond the field, and we’re excited about the contribution he’ll make to the wider club.

We’re delighted to have Sam on board and can’t wait to see him at Elsternwick Park.

We’re extremely excited to bring David Sprittles to Elsternwick Cricket Club for the upcomming season.
 
David joins us from Letchworth GCCC, where he captained the club and established himself as a quality all-round cricketer. A crafty medium pacer, David was the Division 1 leading wicket-taker in 2025, taking 37 wickets at an impressive 11.77.
 
With the bat, David is a dynamic opening batsman who topped the Division 1 run-scoring charts in 2023, finishing with 839 runs at 55.95.
 
We’re delighted to have him joining the Elsternwick family and can’t wait to see what he brings both on and off the field.

Elsternwick Cricket Club is thrilled to welcome Josh Holden and his partner Kim to Eel Park for the 2026/27 season.

Josh arrives with an outstanding cricket resume, bringing a wealth of experience from more than 150 First XI games across Berwick, Buckley Ridges & Casey South Melbourne.

A classy left-handed top-order batsman, Josh has amassed over 6,000 runs, performing consistently in one of Victoria’s strongest local competitions. His experience, composure and ability to anchor an innings will add enormous value to our batting group.

Josh also boasts an exceptional list of achievements:

Introducing the Elsternwick Cricket Club Committee for 2026/27.

A huge thank you to everyone who has put their hand up to help lead and support the club throughout the season ahead.

We’d also like to sincerely thank outgoing committee member Ange Portelli for his contribution to the club, particularly his work as Apparel Manager. Ange has put in a huge amount of time behind the scenes organising, managing and distributing club apparel, and his efforts have been greatly appreciated.

We’re fortunate to have a passionate group of people continuing to drive the Eels forward both on and off the field.

🏏 PLAYER SIGNING | SAM ELSTONE

Elsternwick Cricket Club is delighted to announce the signing of English top-order batter Sam Elstone for the 2026–27 season.

A highly accomplished top order batter, Sam joins the Wicks from Sidmouth Cricket Club in the Devon Premier League and has also represented Devon in National Counties cricket and Scotland at Under-19 level.

Sam has established himself as one of Devon’s leading batters, combining consistency with the ability to produce match-defining innings across all formats. His record includes multiple Premier League centuries and a brilliant 156 for Devon in the National Counties Championship.

Sam’s experience, professionalism and appetite for big runs will add significant quality to our senior program as we prepare for another competitive VSDCA season.

We look forward to welcoming Sam to the Wicks and seeing him in the navy blue this summer.

Michaela joined the Eels with no previous cricket experience and quickly found a welcoming team, supportive coaches and a great group of people to play and socialise with.

Our Women’s Come & Try Day is the perfect opportunity to experience cricket in a relaxed and friendly environment. No experience is required, and all equipment will be provided.

The Eels are delighted to confirm that Will Tripcony has recommitted for the 2026/27 season.

Will produced an outstanding 2025/26 campaign, scoring 617 runs at an average of 38.56, including five half-centuries and a highest score of 87.

The talented English top-order batter currently represents Burbage & Easton Royal Cricket Club in the West of England Premier League and is a BUCS National Trophy winner with Cardiff MCCU. He has also enjoyed a big season representing the Surrey and Somerset Second XIs.

A classy batter with an impressive cricket résumé, Trips will again be an important part of our senior program in 2026/27.
