*A Legend Returns to the Winelands! 🏉🇿🇦🇮🇪*
A massive thank you to CJ Stander for joining us at our recent Paarl Rugby Academy training session.
We are also incredibly grateful for the opportunity to train at the stunning, newly launched "CJ Stander" Field and the world-class facilities at the prestigious Paarl Valleij Estate. To train on such a field is an inspiration in itself.
CJ, thank you for giving back to the grassroots and for your commitment to the next generation of rugby stars in Paarl.
*About CJ Stander: A Career of Grit and Greatness*
CJ Stander is a rare breed in professional rugby, a powerhouse loose forward who became a national hero in two different hemispheres. Born and raised on a dairy farm in George, South Africa, his journey took him from the Blue Bulls to becoming one of the most decorated "adopted" sons of Irish rugby.
*Career Achievements & Highlights*
* The South African Start: Represented the Baby Boks (SA U20) as captain and earned 50 caps for the Blue Bulls/Bulls between 2010 and 2012.
* Munster Icon: Moved to Ireland in 2012, where he became a cornerstone of Munster Rugby. He earned 156 caps for the province and was the first player to win the Munster Player of the Year award three times.
* Irish International Star: After qualifying for Ireland, he earned 51 Test caps. He was a vital part of the 2018 Grand Slam winning team and played in two Rugby World Cups (2015, 2019).
* British & Irish Lions: Selected for the 2017 Lions tour to New Zealand, starting in the decisive third Test against the All Blacks.
* Individually Decorated: * IRUPA (Ireland) Players' Player of the Year (2016).
⁰Rugby Writers of Ireland Player of the Year (2016).
⁰Nominated for European Player of the Year.
Stander was known for his relentless work rate, incredible carrying ability, and a "never-say-die" attitude that made him a favorite among fans worldwide. He retired from professional rugby in 2021 at the top of his game, returning home to the Western Cape.
