George Golf Club has experienced significant damage following the severe storms and gale-force winds that swept through the Garden Route.
A total of 263 trees were lost, including some that had stood on the course for more than a century and had become part of the club’s history and identity over generations.
Since then, the cleanup and recovery effort has been ongoing. Fallen trees, damaged greens, and affected areas across the course have required an incredible amount of work behind the scenes.
Through it all, the support from the community has been overwhelming. The messages, offers to help, visits to the clubhouse, and encouragement shown to our staff and grounds crew have meant more than we can properly express.
We would also like to thank our grounds team and everyone involved in the cleanup process. Their dedication and hard work have been remarkable.
The course is currently open for 9 holes, and we’ll continue to keep everyone updated as recovery progresses and once the full 18 holes reopen.
The clubhouse and restaurant remain open to the public.
Thank you again for all the support, patience and kindness shown to our club. 🩷
