A 14-month-old has a way of ending your gym routine pretty fast.

And Christian still made training a non-negotiable.

What started as building a solid foundation in the gym turned into a way to structure his life, and a version of himself that can keep up with it.

And after nearly 2 years training with Mike, he put it simply: “I feel very alive.”

While still seeking the limits of his physicality, the order that training creates carries into his day-to-day.

There’s a million reasons not to go.

And ‘just do it’ sounds a lot easier when you’re not exhausted from a long day, the kids, work, and everything else life throws at you.

But your health is the one thing you can’t keep putting on the back burner.

Not every workout is going to be your best.

🏋️ More weight isn’t always better. More tension is.

There’s a big difference between moving weight and actually training. If the weight is controlling you more than you’re controlling it, you’re leaving results on the table and putting your joints at risk.

Here are 3 ways to know if you’ve got the right weight loaded.

Can you pause the rep at any point and hold it? If the answer is no, the weight is too heavy. A simple pause rep can expose everything. If the movement falls apart the moment you take away momentum, your muscles aren’t working as hard as they could be. Drop the weight and own the range of motion.

Can you feel tension through the entire range of motion? If you’re only feeling the weight at certain points in the movement, you’re losing the muscle connection that makes the rep count. Slow it down. A slower rep with more control will always beat a fast rep with more weight.

Are your joints stacked and stable? Weight in your joints is a medical bill waiting to happen. If your elbows are flaring, your knees are caving, or something feels like it’s grinding rather than working: your body is telling you something. Listen to it.

The goal isn’t to move the most weight in the room. It’s to build the most control over it.

Control the weight before it controls you. 🎯
