Some rounds are just a good time. This one changes lives.

On October 10th, Golf Wichita is thrilled to host a tournament with Beauties and Beasts, Inc. , a volunteer run rescue right here in the Wichita area on a mission to change their world one rescue at a time. They step in for the animals with the least time left, and we could not be prouder to be part of it.

Your morning at Auburn Hills is going to be a blast. Check in greets you with a lite breakfast and a few wagging tails, then it is an 18 hole, four person scramble with a 9 AM shotgun start. Cash prizes for the top two teams in every flight, plus Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, Longest Putt, and raffle items all morning.

Want an extra shot? Bring an item from the Beauties and Beasts donation list and your team earns a mulligan. Think peanut butter, puppy pads, cat litter, or paper towels.

This was Ladies Appreciation Day last year, and we are going bigger on Saturday, September 26 at MacDonald.

Here is what you walk into. Free range time all afternoon. Clinics with our golf professionals. Golfers from the Friends University women's team talking about how they actually practice. Local vendors to shop. Contests running all day with Golf Wichita gear and gift cards on the line. And a nine hole scramble to close things out, on a shortened course with games built into the holes.

Two things worth knowing. The first 50 guests take home a goodie bag, and the scramble is capped at 22 two person teams. Both are first come, first served, and sign ups open right at 1:00 when the doors open. Come early.

Bring a friend, bring your mom or your daughter, or come on your own and meet a few people. Every age, every skill level, all of it welcome.

There is a good chance you go home with something on September 26.

The first 50 guests to arrive at Ladies Appreciation Day receive a goodie bag, no entry or purchase required. Inside you will find the useful things that make an afternoon on the course better, tees, sunscreen, a bug repellent arm band, and a few extras we will let you discover for yourself. Sign ups open right at 1:00 when the event begins, so arriving at the start is the surest way to get one.

From there, contests run throughout the afternoon at the range. Golf Wichita gear, gift cards, and prizes from our partners will be up for grabs, and you do not have to be the best player on the property to win any of it. Most of these are built around fun rather than skill, which means a first timer has just as good a shot as someone who has been playing for decades.

Out on the course, the scramble holes have games built into them with prizes attached, so your team has chances to win along the way regardless of how the scorecard is adding up. One final contest is saved for the range crowd after the tournament groups head out, so there is a reason to stick around either way.

Golf Wichita is open today, and our courses are ready for you. With the City of Wichita boil water advisory in effect, we are making a few temporary changes in our snack bars at Auburn Hills, MacDonald, Tex Consolver, and Arthur B. Sim.

Fountain drinks, ice, brewed coffee and tea, and the drinking fountains on course are unavailable until the advisory is lifted. Bottled beverages are stocked and ready to go, and our teams are following guidance from the Kansas Department of Agriculture to keep everything safe for you. You are also welcome to bring your own sealed water bottles out on the course.

It is warm out there, so please plan ahead and stay hydrated. Grab what you need at the turn, and thank you for your patience while the City works to restore normal service. We will share an update here as soon as the advisory is rescinded.

The clinics might be the best reason to come to Ladies Appreciation Day, and this year they come with a few new faces.

Golfers from the Friends University women's golf team will be with us at the range, sharing what their practice actually looks like. Not the polished version, but the real one. The drills they run, how they structure time when they only have an hour, and what the jump from high school golf to the college level asked of them. For younger players wondering if college golf is possible, this is a chance to ask someone living it right now. For everyone else, it is a look at how a competitive player thinks about her range time.

Our Golf Wichita professionals will be working alongside them all afternoon with demonstrations and hands on instruction. Bring a question about your slice, your short game, your grip, or the club you never feel confident pulling. Nothing is too basic here. Range time is free, so you can take what you learn and hit balls right away while it is still fresh.

ShotSuite will have their launch monitor set up nearby if you want to put actual numbers to a swing you have only ever felt.

This day is for ladies of every age. Come as a group of friends, bring your daughter or your mom, or come on your own and meet a few people. Whether you have played for thirty years or have never taken a lesson in your life, there is a place for you on this range.
