You bought the lower. Now what?

A lot of you did the smart thing in July. Beat the deadline, got the serialized part on a 4473, figured you’d sort the rest out later.

Later is here. And “just order an upper” isn’t the answer we’d give you.

Read the actual statute and the list of prohibited actions starts with manufacture. Where assembly of a stripped lower lands under that word is not something anyone should be guessing at in their garage not when a first offense is a misdemeanor on your record.

Here’s what we tell every guy who walks in with this exact question:
1. Come talk to us before you buy another part. Bring what you’ve got.
2. Start your eligibility card now. It’s the permission slip, not the certificate you can’t even enroll in the safety course without it. Good for five years once it’s issued.
3. Get through the course. Carded and trained, you’re not guessing anymore. You’re just building.
Nothing about what you already own changed. Possession wasn’t touched. But the path forward has a sequence to it now, and the guys who start it this month are shooting a lot sooner than the guys who wait.

You didn’t buy that lower to let it sit in a drawer.
