The biggest defensive improvements don't happen when the season starts, they happen months before, through intentional training and quality repetitions.

Great defenders aren't built by simply taking more ground balls or catching more fly balls. They're built by understanding:

This fall, Select Sports Performance is offering Defensive Development Sessions for baseball and softball athletes in Grades 5-12.

Position-Specific Training

* Catchers

* Outfielders

Athletes will develop:

✅ Glove work
✅ Throwing mechanics
✅ Position-specific skills
✅ Baseball & Softball IQ

✔ No minimum sessions required - attend the sessions that fit your schedule.
✔ Maximum of 16 athletes per session to ensure individualized instruction.

The Fall Is Where Better Defenders Are Built.

Too often, athletes wait until the first practice of spring to begin improving defensively.

By then, they're competing against habits that have been developing for months, and sometimes years.

Great defenders aren't built by simply taking more reps.

They're built by understanding:

• What needs to improve.
• Why it needs to improve.
• How to make the correct adjustment.

This fall, I'll be offering the Select Defensive Development - Fall Fundamentals Series for baseball and softball players in grades 5-12.

As parents, your instinct is to protect your children from failure. But some of the greatest lessons in sports—and in life—come from learning how to recover after a mistake.

When we allow our athletes to fail safely, we give them the opportunity to build resilience, confidence, and perseverance. Be there to encourage them, remind them of who they are beyond the scoreboard, and help them see every setback as a stepping stone to growth.

That's how champions are developed—one lesson at a time.

As the years have gone by, I've become much more selective with who receives my time and energy.

Respect matters. Effort matters. Humility matters.

When someone shows up with the right attitude and a genuine desire to improve, I'm all in.

Today was one of those days.

I spent nearly 4 hours (2 working & 2 driving) with one hitter and one coach, talking baseball, breaking down swings, asking questions, sharing ideas, and chasing improvement. And honestly, I could have kept going.

That's the kind of work that energizes me.

Baseball has never been just about mechanics. It's about relationships, trust, and investing in people who are willing to invest in themselves.

Thank you for your time, your respect, and your commitment to getting better. Those are things I'll always make time for.
