On behalf of the Waukon Football Team, I wanted to say a heart-felt thank you to a bunch of people. As most of you who follow this page know, our weight room recently received a major upgrade. The Allamakee Athletic Boosters really stepped up. To help cover some of the cost, alumni Parker Hesse and Marcus Weymiller hosted a youth football camp today, along with the Booster Club. I felt this was a great opportunity for those kids. They looked like they were enjoying themselves and learning some football skills. Thank you to our Boosters. Thank you to Marcus, Parker, and all the alumni who helped out. Thank you to our coaches and community members who showed up to make this work. And, I am very proud of our student athletes who helped out and did a great job working with the kids. Lastly, thank you to the parents and young athletes who took time out of your Saturday to participate. I hope everyone felt this was a worthwhile experience. Thank you again.

Trevor Block; Waukon HS ‘26

Shout-out to Trevor Block out of Waukon HS! Trevor is a Senior on the wrestling team at Waukon HS, where he is also a straight-A student. He is described as a kid who has zero quit and as one of the hardest working dudes you will ever meet! Trevor has been wrestling since Kindergarten and has done so while simultaneously being afflicted with cerebral palsy. He has accumulated several wins in his HS career, which is an incredible feat for him considering the lower half of his body doesn’t work well for him and his energy burn rate is approximately 2.5x that of a normal kid his age.

Trevor has a history of great wrestling tradition in his family. Most notably, his uncle, Keith Colsch, was a National Champion for Loras College as well as a 2X Iowa HS State Wrestling placer for Waukon HS ‘80. He also has 3 older brothers who wrestled for Waukon HS; Carter (Fuhrman), Tyler Block and Caleb Block. His older sister, Ashley played volleyball and basketball for Waukon HS and went on to play Lacrosse at Clarke University. All of Trevor’s siblings have contributed in terms of shaping Trevor as a wrestler as well as the admirable human being he is today.

Trevor has endured adversity that only a tiny percentage of the population will ever be able to personally understand and has done so while choosing to grit through the world’s toughest sport for over a decade. The toughness this kid possesses simply cannot be measured. The jigsaw puzzle that is the sport of wrestling would not be complete if it weren’t for guys like Trevor who display toughness and perseverance regularly the way he has. Guys like him should make us all proud to be a part of the wrestling community.

Thank you for being a great example and inspiration, Trevor! You have made this great sport even greater simply by your hard work and participation in it as well as the person you have become off the mat!
