Today, Chris Dolan closed the book on an extraordinary 32-year career at Young Arena. Since the arena first opened its doors in 1994, Chris has been its steady heartbeat and guiding hand — its only Arena Manager from day one. With quiet strength and unwavering dedication, he built more than just operations; he created a welcoming home for the Cedar Valley’s most cherished memories. From the thunder of Black Hawks and Warriors hockey games to thousands of events that brought joy, competition, and community together, Chris helped welcome over nine million visitors through those doors.
His legacy is written in the high standards he set, the staff he mentored, and the genuine warmth he extended to every guest. Young Arena became what it is today because of his vision, integrity, and deep care for this community. Chris, congratulations on a remarkable career and a richly deserved retirement. Thank you for pouring your heart into every shift, every event, and every person who walked through the arena. The next chapter is yours — whether filled with peaceful mornings, golf, travel, family gatherings, or whatever new adventures call your name. You’ve left an indelible mark on the City of Waterloo. We are all better for it. Wishing you joy, rest, and fulfillment in the years ahead.
