One year ago today, I became the owner of JDS Legacy.
At just 18 years old, I was handed the keys to something I had dreamed about for years. I didn’t have all the answers, and I didn’t know exactly what the future would hold. But I knew I loved dance, I loved teaching, and I was willing to pour my whole heart into this studio.
Looking back now, it’s hard to believe everything that has happened in just one year. We’ve celebrated firsts, overcome challenges, made memories I’ll never forget, and watched so many dancers grow. There have been long nights, early mornings, happy tears, stressful moments, and so much laughter in between. Every single moment has shaped this first year into something I’ll cherish forever.
None of this would’ve been possible without the people who stood beside me.
Ms. Brandi—thank you for loving every little dancer that walks through our doors and for being someone I can always count on. Whether you’re teaching, helping behind the scenes, doing admin work, or simply encouraging me, you’ve been such a blessing to this studio and to me. 🩷
My mom, Ms. Amy—thank you for being my biggest supporter. From handling all the billing to answering every phone call, solving problems, and reminding me to breathe when things get overwhelming… you’ve carried so much of this dream with me. I could never thank you enough. I love you. 🩷
To my dad, my sisters, and my brothers-in-laws—thank you for every way you’ve supported me this year. Whether it was helping set up, tearing down, moving props, cheering me on, or simply believing in me, you’ve all played a part in making this dream possible.
And to every JDS Legacy family…
Thank you.
Thank you for trusting me with your children.
Thank you for believing in my vision.
Thank you for helping turn this dream into a legacy.
That trust is something I’ll never take for granted.
My prayer is that every dancer who walks through our doors feels encouraged, challenged, loved, and leaves knowing they’re capable of more than they ever imagined. This studio has become so much more than a business. It’s become a family, and I couldn’t be more grateful that you’re part of it.
One year down, and we’re only getting started.
Thank you for being part of this legacy. I’m endlessly grateful for every single one of you.
Here’s to building the future while honoring the legacy—together.
