🌊🌊🌊 Happy World Oceans Day! 🌊🌊🌊

Today is a day for us to remember just how important our oceans are. While awareness and understanding of our oceans seems to be increasing, we, as a species, have a long ways to go.

Here are some epic facts about our oceans you can use to help advocate for them!

Marine organisms—mostly phytoplankton, kelp, and algal plankton—produce more than 50% of the world's oxygen through photosynthesis. If our oceans are being dredged or overfished or overheated, these life giving organisms will not survive. That means we probably won't make it either.

The ocean stores roughly 50 times more carbon than the atmosphere. Mangroves, salt marshes, and seagrass meadows can trap carbon up to 10 times faster than terrestrial tropical rainforests. Healthy ocean ecosystems are just as important as terrestrial ones

While coral reefs cover less than 1% of the ocean floor, they support more than 25% of all marine life. Additionally, they save us billions by protecting the shores from ocean storms AND they generate hundreds of millions of dollars (if not more) through ecotourism. They work hard!

While our oceans are critical it is to our survival, we barely know anything about them! Humans have explored less than 25% of the global ocean. Every deep-sea expedition uncovers entirely new species and unique ecosystems that challenge our understanding of life.

Come out on Wednesday and Join us for another FUN DIVE at Devil's Lake!

Last week was a great dive - we had an excellent group of divers and saw a ton of fish. It's bluegill nesting season and you can see them as we pass by in the shallows.

Interested in joining us? It's $60 to rent a full set of gear; $30 for tanks and weights. Cookout and merriment to follow at the shop afterwards. We hope to see you there.

Yesterday, we kicked off the Fun Dive season strong at Devil's Lake State Park with an amazing group of divers. The fish were out -- large- and small-mouth bass, bluegills, and even a Northern Pike -- to welcome us. After diving, we met up back at the shop for the Clean Up Cookout where we - you guessed it - collectively clean up our gear and socialize over food and drink. Truly, it was a wonderful start to the 2026 Fun Dive season!

Thank you to everyone who attended! We can't wait to dive with you again!

We would also like to give a shout out to our staff who were there to lead dives and/or provide land support: Beth, Suzie, Dawn, Dan, Gage, Steph, Jason, and Lisa.

Weather permitting, we will be meeting up for Fun Dives every Wednesday (and a few bonus weekend events) over the next 12 weeks! Information for each Fun Dive, including links for all mandatory paperwork, will be posted here and can be found on our calendar (BreezewayBubbles.com/schedule).

Yesterday, we kicked off the Fun Dive season strong at Devil's Lake State Park with an amazing group of divers.
