National recognition for Hickory Hills! 🥏

Hickory Hills Recreation Area has been ranked #10 on UDisc’s list of the 25 Best Disc Golf Courses at Ski Areas for 2026. The ranking evaluated more than 300 ski area disc golf courses worldwide and is based on ratings from disc golfers using the UDisc platform.

Known for its challenging terrain, elevation changes, and technical layout, the Hickory Hills Disc Golf Course continues to attract players from across the region and beyond.

We are thrilled to have Hickory Hills recognized as a premier year-round recreation destination!

Registration Opens May 13th!

In partnership with Grand Traverse Conservation District, we're excited to announce a new Hickory Hills Day Camp experience at the City's Hickory Hills Recreation Area, with registration set to open on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026 at 8:00am.

This camp is an extension of GTCD’s long-standing Nature Day Camp, bringing the same mission-driven outdoor learning to a new, inspiring setting. Starting on June 22nd, the eight-week camp season, for ages 7-12 years old, will operate Monday - Thursday, eight hours a day with a maximum of 40 campers per weekly session.

Rooted in GTCD’s mission to lead, facilitate, and inspire exploration, appreciation, conservation, and restoration of our natural world, campers can expect hands-on exploration, nature-based play, environmental learning, and opportunities to build connections with the natural world.

For more information and registration on Wednesday, May 13th, please visit GTCD’s website: https://natureiscalling.org/hickory-hills-day-camp

Learning the Ropes!

A big thank you to employee team member Luke Boone, Interim Hickory Hills Operations Manager, for giving City Manager Benjamin Marentette a behind-the-scenes tour of the recreation area — and showing him the ropes (and the PistenBully), so to speak!

From snow operations to slope management, it’s all part of what keeps Hickory Hills running strong throughout the winter season. A big thanks to our team this year!
