James from Beach Park, Illinois, came up to Door County with his wife for the week. The plan was simple: send his wife shopping for the day while he went after his first muskie.

Well, James ended up catching TWO muskies and a bonus personal best pike with Captain Dave Olson.

I’d say it was a pretty successful day for James. Of course, he hasn’t seen the credit card statement from his wife’s shopping trip yet! 😂🎣

We’re almost into October, but the water temps sure don’t feel like it yet.

These unseasonably warm temps have definitely delayed the fall bite we’ve been waiting for. Right now it seems like some of the smaller males are the ones most willing to eat — including this one from today.

Once we get some cooler weather and those water temps start dropping, things should get interesting in a hurry.

Cooler temps are coming next week, and that means the fall patterns are about to kick in on the Bay of Green Bay. Fall is prime time to chase some of the biggest muskies of the season.

Thanks Ray and Matthew for coming up again this year for a couple days of fishing and lodging at Sand Bay Beach Resort. A lot of laughs, stories and fish catching on the angry waters of Door County. You both managed the big waves well and fished hard.

Ned’s rigs, tube jigs, swim baits and spy baits all scored fish in water between 1’and 15’
