What a hard water season it has been here in Sturgeon Bay! We have been having a blast on the ice this winter and have been super busy with lots of great groups! It was a tougher bite today than it has been with lots of current and finicky fish for this groups annual school trip. I’m always impressed by this group of youngsters, the parents and teachers in Feeedom are sure doing it right! A couple of the kids wanted a bottle of water for lunch as they gave up soda for lent, all the kids were polite, courteous and had great attitudes which as with anything in life, but especially whitefishing on a slower day, can make or break the day! Great job kids, glad to see everyone in the group land a fish today in tricky conditions! Keep up the good work in school, and keep those positive attitudes and you all are going places!

Brrr! Cold is on the way this week! With the past few winters being a struggle with warm weather, it looks like Mother Nature is going to cooperate this year and we are looking forward to a fun ice season! With the frigid temps on the way we can’t help but think ahead to the warm calm morning/afternoons on Lake Michigan chasing salmon which will be here before we know it!

A nice mid morning triple is always a welcome sight! A tougher bite today but with the great weather and landing 6 kings to add to our catch in under 20 minutes in the 8 o’clock hour made for a nice day! Hope you all can get outdoors and enjoy a great holiday weekend!

“The boys did a fantastic job this morning” that’s the one line message I received from a friend and long time customer after their trip this morning that I was unable to be on. Water is warm, fishing is a little tougher. On days like today having the right tools in the tool box make all the difference and today that meant a nice box of 18 nice fish for this crew! Everyone’s an “expert” when the bite is on, and it’s been great most of the year, it’s the tough days that set boats apart! Keep up the great work Jack and Grant!

This morning brought waves, thick weeds, and some of the worst boat drivers I’ve seen in years. Best part of Lake Michigan is it can change fast, and boy did it change today for our mid day! The waves subsided and turned to calm seas, the terrible drivers are back on land (probably raising havoc in their cars) not a boat in sight and the fish were happy and hungry! Jack and Grant are sailing off for the evening trip now and I’m off to get some rest! What a great season it has been, hard to believe we are in the final stretch already! Well that made my day, the little guy in front was holding a fish for a picture, his mom says “you have to tip him a little” to which he replies “just take the dam picture” 🤪 Another fun morning on the pond! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Over the years we have been blessed with some of the absolute best crews on the lake. It’s what makes a charter business really, the boats, the gear, those all help but it’s the crew that makes the difference. And over the years we have had some of the very best! Captain Jack and Grant are no exception! Over winter Jack completed his captains class and received his credential about a month ago. The first photo is of Jack and Grant a few weeks ago on the boat as they were departing on their first ever trip together with Jack at the wheel. (They both have several years and more fish under their belts than most twice their age) They took a group of 5 on a calm, sunny afternoon and landed their limit of 25 in a couple hours on the first ever trip with Jack as captain. Beginners luck? Jack says I don’t think so! 😜 These two have fished a bunch of trips together since including the 2nd photo which is from today on our 10 am to 3 pm afternoon with a great mixed bag catch of 19 salmon and trout! Keep up the great work guys!

I have been told I have been slacking on social media this season (lake fishing has turned into a social media pe**er contest and since I already know I have a small pe**er I figure why bother!) 😜 But what an incredible summer it has been so far! Possibly one of my favorites yet! Here’s Tyler this morning with the last king of their 30 fish limit in under 4 hours of fishing! What a trophy to finish your limit on! Tyler and his family have been fishing with us since he could barely see over the gunnel, we have seen some great fishing together over the years (and some slow fishing too) but we always look forward to seeing them! To everyone that keeps asking for photos, we will have some great ones after the season, until then, if you want to make some photos for yourself, give us a call, we still have some great fishing ahead of us this season!
