Rest in peace Dan, you will be missed and our thoughts and prayers and love are with Wendy Greene and the Greene Family.
The beep baseball community lost one of its longtime competitors, leaders, and friends with the passing of Dan Greene on Monday, May 11, 2026.
Dan’s career in the National Beep Baseball Association spanned from the late 1970s through 2021, making him one of the longtime veterans of the sport. Throughout that journey, he represented multiple teams across the country, including the Chicago Cobras, Chicago Bluffs, Lone Star Roadrunners, OKC Bombers, Colorado Storm, Southwest Slammers, and USA Legends. No matter the uniform, Dan brought competitiveness, consistency, and passion to the game.
While official World Series statistics on file date from 1992 through 2021, Dan had already established himself as an outstanding player long before those records began. According to the statistics available, Dan played in 162 World Series games, recorded 502 at bats, scored 202 runs, and finished with a remarkable .402 career batting average. Defensively, he made an equally strong impact with 277 career putouts, averaging 1.71 putouts per game. His play earned him Offensive All-Tournament honors in 1996 and Defensive All-Tournament honors in 2009, showcasing both his versatility and longevity on the field.
Beyond his accomplishments as a player, Dan also served as President of the National Beep Baseball Association from 2010 through 2017. During his leadership, he helped guide the organization and continued supporting the growth of beep baseball and the community surrounding it.
Dan is remembered not only as a great beep baseball player, but also as a husband, father, teammate, mentor, leader, and friend to many throughout the league.
In sharing the news, Dan’s wife Wendy said:
“It is with great sadness that I report the death of Dan Greene. Last night while the song ‘Knocking on Heaven’s Door’ was playing, Dan slipped quietly away. Thank you to everyone who sent messages of love and support. I will share the details of his celebration of life as they become available.”
The thoughts and prayers of the entire beep baseball community remain with Wendy, their sons Daniel and Andrew, and the entire Greene family during this difficult time.
