We love when we hear from the community on what they'd like from the parks and recreation!

It has been brought to our attention that some teachers would love to have an after school Zumba/dance/yoga class. Here is where we need your help!

We are looking for upbeat, rhythmic, encouraging individual to join our team to make this class happen! It will be held afterschool once a week.

Call, email, or direct message us for more information or an application! We can't wait to hear what you can bring to the table.

"If you want the rainbow, you've gotta put up with the rain." ~ Dolly Parton

Become a METEOROLOGIST! Make weather observations. How does the wind blow the trees? How long between thunder rumbles? How much water fills a cup?
Be an ENGINEER!
Find where water us flowing near your home, gather sticks, stones, leaves, rocks, etc... Race them down the creek or create your own stream and pond!
Become a BIOLOGIST!
Watch for any animals during the rain, do you see any? After the storm, head outside and look for slugs, snails, newts, salamanders, toads and frogs! Be sure your hands are dirty before handling, or, just use your eyes to observe.
Be an ARTIST!
Collect rain water to use with your watercolors! Also, use a coffee filter and washable markers. Find a stone and set it outside in the rain for some time. Hang it up to dry over the sink and enjoy your art. You could even paint with mud from all the rain! Find different colored mud or make your own using spices and food dye.
Become a MUSICIAN!
Put some jars outside to collect rain. Next, collect a stick or a spoon and pour different amounts of water from the cups. Now, tap the glasses and listen to the difference! You can also place metal containers outside and listen to the rain tap them!

There's so much to do inside and outside when it rains, share what you did with us in the comments! 🌧️

Every dollar counts!

Join us at North Country Brew Pub this Monday, August 31st from 5:00-9:00pm to benefit SRAP&R Early Learning Center.

This money will positively benefit our learning space, teachers (Miss. Wendi & Miss. Julee), meals, supplies, and most importantly; our little learners. They may be small, but they are mighty!

10% of all sales will go directly towards our ELC program. Whether you get a drink or bring your entire crew for dinner, every bit helps!

Looking to donate but can't catch us Monday? You still can! Please make all donations for this specific goal in mind out to "Slippery Rock Area Parks and Recreation" and specify that it is to go towards our "Early Learning Center".

Thank you so much, as we couldn't have this program be possible without you! Catch you all Monday night!

WOW! Our 2026 Fall Swim Lessons are taking off!
We are looking to add more of you to our team of Swim Instructors to help all of our little ones learn their new skills.

We are looking for compassionate, water-loving individuals to join us Wednesday nights for our 2026 Fall Swim Season.
Safety and guidance are two important qualities to being a SRAP&R swim instructor, as well as confidence and past experience with swimming.

To apply or for more information, stop in or call the park office! We are open Mon-Fri 7:30am - 3:30pm. All instructors MUST have their PA clearances to work with children. Please see the notes below for a more in depth class description to see what you'd be teaching!

- Water Babies (6 months- 3 years) - These kiddos will have their parents present in the water at all times. They will be taught to feel comfortable in the water through water exploration, using songs, games, and toys. Children and parents will learn basic supported safety skills such as breath control, support, and holding techniques.

- Pre-Beginner (3 years+) - This class is designed for children with little to no water experience. Perfect for those who cannot submerge or swim 10ft independently. They will learn basics such as; blowing bubbles for breath control, assisted front and back flips, water safety, basic swim strokes, changing directions, and more as they become comfortable.

- Beginner (3 years+) - Designed for children who can submerge and swim 10ft independently. These children will continue to develop and build confidence in basic skills, become independent in front and back flips, learn the backstroke, rhythmic breathing, bobbing, and more as they advance.

Please also note there is no session held November 11th in observation of Veterans Day.
