I can speak on this because I’ve experienced pregnancy two VERY different ways. 👀
My first pregnancy, I leaned into the “eating for two” mentality, gave into pretty much every craving, moved way less & eventually stopped working out consistently. I gained 65 lbs and honestly just didn’t feel like myself.
My second pregnancy was a complete 180. I prioritized protein + fiber, cooked at home more, walked almost daily, strength trained 3x/week, did pregnancy-specific mobility/labor prep & focused on taking care of myself the best I could.
And the difference in how I felt throughout pregnancy, birth & postpartum was night and day.
I’m not saying pregnancy is easy. I’m not saying you need to push through when something doesn’t feel right. And I’m definitely not saying every pregnancy looks the same.
But I DO believe that for the average healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy, being pregnant alone doesn’t mean we need to stop moving our bodies or stop prioritizing our health.
🚨DISCLAIMER: This is based on my personal experience and is intended for women with healthy, uncomplicated pregnancies. There are absolutely medical conditions and pregnancy complications where exercise may need to be modified or avoided. As always, follow the recommendations of your own healthcare provider for YOUR pregnancy.
