Racers from 13 states from New Hampshire to Florida will be coming to Reading, PA for the Duryea Hillclimb, August 16-17.
The annual Duryea Hillclimb, first run in 1951, is part of the Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association (PHA) Championship Series. It's sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America(SCCA) and hosted by the local chapter, Blue Mountain Region SCCA.
Current course record holder, Ron Moreck of Kingston, PA will be returning to defend his title. He'll be up against stiff competition from several previous winners looking to reclaim "King of the Hill" status.
The Start Line of the 2.2-mile course is at the bottom of Duryea Drive at the intersection with 13th Street Extension, and the Finish Line is on Skyline Dive at the William Penn Memorial Fire Tower.
Competition begins Saturday about 9:15am and continues until approximately 4:30pm. On Sunday the event gets underway about 9am and ends around 4pm.
Admission is by voluntary donation and benefits Pagoda-Skyline, Inc. A shuttle bus will be in service both days taking riders to the Fire Tower and various spectating areas. Ridership is by voluntary donation and benefits the Third and Spruce Reading Rec Center.
