The Legacy Continues:
For over 43 years, the McCloskey basketball family which consists of hundreds of coaches and players has engaged in an annual summer tradition of hosting basketball camps for high caliber athletes to compete and develop the necessary skills to succeed on the court. Coach Jack McCloskey’s vision and passion for being a “teacher of the game” has been evidenced by the thousands
of young men and women who have participated in the camp experience and have long lasting memories of the wonderful times and friendships that have been made along the way. This strong group of friends, colleagues and highly talented coaches all agreed to keep the legacy alive and continue hosting Jack McCloskey Basketball Camps. The Physical Education Center has been the on-court classroom for some of the game’s greatest young players including Richard “Rip” Hamilton, of the World Champion Detroit Pistons and the 2003 NCAA College Player of the Year and NBA star, Jameer Nelson. Team camps run Friday through Sunday on the specified weekends. High school coaches bring their varsity and junior varsity teams to Alvernia to play in round robin games. Excellent housing, meals, and court time are all available to the campers and coaches. The individual camp is run from Sunday through Thursday on the dates indicated on the registration form.
