Here’s thoughts when I was working on some martial arts curriculum this morning at 5am. It’s a little rambling. What is your path these days?
There is a famous saying in martial arts…the more you learn the more you realize how much you don’t know. My pathway in the Tao is one of curiosity. This necessitates practicing….being Sung. Relax your yei, your intention, relax your body (release your stress), empty your cup (don’t have agenda and preconceived notions), stay fluid, understanding and existence in impermanence. When we stop learning, we start dying. We have created stagnation, in Taoism this is death. Curiosity is true growth and expansion. It is the fountain of youth. Watch a young child explore the outdoors. Their mind and body is truly in the here and now. Taiji Quan is about constant exploration, discovery, and letting go. Stay fluid, stay impermanent, ever growing, ever moving. Your pathway continues so your shen can soar, your jing stays strong and vibrant. Do not seek mastery. Mastery is a fixed mind, stagnant, a dead end. Curiosity envelops fun. Who doesn’t want to have fun. Fun releases beneficial neurotransmitters. Fun quickly moves into flow state. The mind becomes free, the body thrives, your spirit sings. In flow the doorway to your mind opens, perhaps more importantly your spirituality flourishes. Clarity and receptivity. Mind, body, soul interconnects to nature and onward to universal consciousness. Perhaps this enters into nirvana, bliss and heaven on earth. Your taiji quan practice becomes this gateway.
