Some new releases featuring longer compositions, Meredith Bates (violin, electronics), David Torn (guitar), Satoko Fujii (piano) and her Min-Yoh Ensemble, plus various musical guests. Additional music will feature the Columbia Icefield (Susan Alcorn, Mary Halvorson, and Nate Wooley). Bonus: Ryan Scott and his snare drum compositions.

RADIO: Happy Birthday Zeena Parkins.

A Different Nature will present a two-hour special on the music of harpist and composer Zeena Parkins. Parkins loves to experiment with harps, electric harps, detuned harps, and weirdly distorted processed harps. She is a fervent collaborator and composer and works with the whole, as they say, “loisaida gang” in New York. You’ll hear them all. Enjoy forty years and more of Zeena’s music, and as is rarely said regarding the harp as an instrument, it’s going to be loud.

RADIO: Presenting: “The Quietest Show on Earth”

Ladies and Gentlemen, for your entertainment and enlightenment enjoyment, sit right down, still your alpha waves and prepare to be enveloped by the quietest music in the world! In the center ring, two (count them two) triple pianissimo pieces by Morton Feldman, “For Samuel Beckett” (for a small ensemble), plus “Piano and Voices.” Following a short intermission you’ll thrill to the barely audible “l’ile re-sonante” for the ARP 2500 synthesizer created (or realized) by the recently departed Eliane Radigue. Step this way, only a quarter, one performance only.
