Hubbardston Irish Dance Troupe Irish Dance Studio We are a community-based dance group that was founded in the quaint Irish town of Hubbardston.

We have over 80 dancers in our troupe and we dance because we love to! We are a performance troupe, with shows all across Michigan, come see us at our next one!

Morgan O’Meara is graduating from Grand Ledge High School and will be heading to Hope College next year to study Biology and Pre-Dental. She has been dancing since she was 3 years old, and has been with HIDT for the past 8 years. She has also been a teacher in our studio for the past 3 years!

Morgan is an outstanding dancer, but her accomplishments go far beyond the dance studio. During her high school years, she has been involved in NHS, NTHS, HOSA, Links and Key Club. She’s also graduating in the top 25 from Grand Ledge with a 4.75 GPA and received a Presidential Scholarship from Hope College for her essay on Irish dance 🥹

Morgan has been an integral member of our dance team for so many years. Her positivity in the studio is absolutely contagious and we love that energy! She’s quick to build others up, and our students know they can always look to her for support, connection and love. She leads with poise, and dances with intention. We will miss her vibrant presence in the studio so very much!

One excerpt from Morgan’s essay about dance: “Dance is an art that creates joy and connection that lasts long after the final bow is taken and the performance ends.”

Ava Zimmerman is graduating from Portland High School and will be going to Michigan State University to study Political Science with hopes of going to Law School in the future. She has been Irish dancing for 13 years.

Ava has committed many years to the Hubbardston Irish Dance Troupe, and she is also an active member of the high school varsity track and field team, and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Ava is always up for a challenge, never shying away from difficult technique and creative choreography. She is our block hop queen! She has grown into an outstanding dancer and absolutely shines on stage. She brings positivity and radiance everywhere she goes, and we will miss that spirit so very much in our studio!

Something Ava will miss about dance: “Seeing all my friends every week.” (Same 🥺)

Malia Reitz is graduating from Holt High School and will be going to the University of Michigan next year to study History, hoping to become an archivist or librarian. Malia has been a member of the Hubbardston Irish Dance Troupe for 15 years!

Beyond the dance studio, Malia is an active member of Girl Scouts, plays the clarinet in the high school marching and concert bands, has a black belt in karate and represents her school on the varsity track and cross country teams. She was also selected as the 2026 Grand Ledge St. Patrick’s Day Queen!

Watching Malia grow from a cute and squirrelly three year old Sprite into the amazing dancer and awesome person she is today has been an outstanding joy, and a testament to all of the hard work she has put in over the years.

Malia’s advice to younger dancers: “If you mess up on stage, just keep moving your feet, because no one knows what they’re looking at anyway!” 😆

You have made us so proud over the last 15 years Malia, and we know you will continue to do so in your bright future ahead. 💙

Eden Zimmerman is graduating from Portland St. Patrick School and will be attending Paul Mitchell the School for Cosmetology next year. She has been Irish dancing for the past 12 years.

Eden has been such a solid member of our team since the very beginning of her dance career. She graces the stage with a smile that never falters and makes even the most technical moves look effortless. She has a humble heart and a graceful spirit, on the stage, and beyond.

Eden brings her best to other sports and activities outside of Irish dance as well. She’s a member of the high school volleyball and softball teams, as well Student Council and NHS.

Something Irish dance has taught her: “How to keep smiling even when you can’t breathe!” 😅

We are so proud of you Eden, we know you will go on to make this world a more beautiful place! 💛

Grace Sutherland is graduating from Portland High School and will be studying Biomedical Engineering at Michigan Technological University. She has been dancing with HIDT for 10 years.

Beyond the dance studio, Grace is a very active member of community theatre and high school theatre, and she always graces the stage in any role she plays! We were blown away by her performance as Fantine in this year’s production of Les Misérables!! She has also been in the high school marching band as a member of the drum line.

Grace has been such a warm presence in our studio over the years, and we will miss seeing her every week. We know she will go on to do very impressive things in her life! We are so proud of you, Grace!!

Emma Thelen is graduating from Pewamo-Westphalia High School and is an early college student at Lansing Community College. She is planning to complete her Bachelor’s in Cybersecurity. Emma has been irish dancing for 12 years, along with being an all-star academic student and a well-rounded athlete.

Emma shows a quiet kindness to everyone she meets and can always be found at the studio with a positive attitude. We know this mindset will take her so far into her future and can’t wait to see what she does next!

Emma’s favorite dance memory is going to Ireland and visiting the Aran Islands.

We are so proud of you Emma, both on the stage, and off. We will be cheering you on always! 💜
