Slippery Rock track & field throws coach Jordan Geist won the men's shot put title at the USA Track & Field National Championships Sunday in New York City, picking up the first national title of his professional career.

CMU's Women's & Men’s Track and Field Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2026 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list for the 30th consecutive year.
The women's & men's track and field team earned the distinction because of a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 or better for the 2025-26 academic year, as the Tartans carried a cumulative team GPA of 3.48 (men), 3.58 (women) for the academic year.
In addition to the team earning the award, 187 individuals were honored:

Junior Ananya Devpura – Electrical and Computer Engineering
Junior Maya Ducker - International Relations and Politics
Senior Margaret Ann Healy – Chemical Engineering
Sophomore Elise Kempf - Biology
Senior Jackie Liu - Statistics

Freshman Eric de Oliveira - Business
Junior Christian Duckworth – Architecture
Sophomore Luke Freimanis - Computer Science
Junior Solomon Glavach - Mechanical Engineering
Freshman A***n Hiray - Economics
Senior Morgan Johnson - Mechanical Engineering
Sophomore Ryan Joyce – Computational Biology
Senior Ryan Podnar - International Relations
Graduate Student Casey Potrebic - Social Sciences
Freshman Franklin Ritz – Statistics and Data Science
Junior Matthew Short - Computer Science

All 18 individuals qualified for the award by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better while either competing at the NCAA Championships or finishing the regular season ranked in the national top 50 in an individual event or top 35 in a relay event.
