When clouds and wind makes conditions right for targeting walleye this is a great time to fish quickly and check multiple spots. This particular fish came off the 5th spot we fished on the day, and as soon as we found the forage out suspended we put this great Perrault Lake walleye in the boat.

In the evening hours, these birds would be chasing small fish all across a w**dy flat off a main lake sandbar. Not coincidentlly, the walleye bite would be very good in the similar area!

One trick for finding fish in Canada, as well as other northern waterbodies, is to follow the loons and other birds. These birds, especially loons or gulls, are likely chasing fish and predator fish like walleye will be nearby too!

In the day time hours, the best bait on Perrault Lake was a slightly smaller bait as this perfectly matched the young of the year yellow perch the walleye were feeding on. This custom gold crankbait was the best bait, likely because it emulated the perch perfectly!

Our most consistent bite on Perrault Lake was trolling crankbaits in the evening hours as fished moved up onto a sandbar with a large w**d flat and fed on young of the year yellow perch. Even the "eater" caliber fish would take a swing at the bigger crankbaits!
