JB Designs - Custom Rods For those of you that don't know me, my name is Josh Bible and I started this journey of rod building in 2018. who we lost in 2017.

It started with wanting to build a couple of memorial rods for my stepson Hunter Propst and his grandfather, walleye fishing legend Bob Propst Sr. This hobby quickly escalated as I started to build a few rods for myself and a few close friends. And after a couple years and a countless number of rods later I have decided to go ahead and try my hand at offering them to the public. I have been mainl

y building rods for walleye fishing to include jigging and bottom bouncing rods. I have also ventured into Ice rods as well. As you can tell by my pics, I like to build a rod with clean lines and use the most light weight components that I can. Feel free to message me if you're interested in a build. I’m very excited to introduce my next rod in the JB Designs Walleye Series! I am calling this one the “Precision RipStick”, it is a 7’2” mag-medium, moderate action rod designed for jig raps, snap jigging and other techniques while using FFS. We have some more testing to perform before these go into production, but hopefully they will be available later this year. I am super excited as these blanks are a one of a kind built to my specifications and not available to anyone else.

While pre-fishing for a walleye tournament we ended up catching salmon inside of walleye. Needless to say we decided to salmon fish on tournament day and go for “Big Other” fish. Got 3 yesterday and lost one at the boat and then caught 4 today and lost 3 at the boat to include one that would have went double digits.
Very fun day with Brandon Bible and Bryan Tipton, even though we didn’t cash a check we had still had a great time!

I got a special request to build a rod for the upcoming Jackrabbit Athletic Scholarship Auction on May 2nd. I put a lot of thought into how I wanted to build this and took a risk and started with a custom painted blank and reel seat, done by Backbone Custom Rods out of Florida. I then made custom grips using the highest grade cork you can buy, and then rounded it off with Fuji Titanium guides.
I added a SDSU lapel pin donated by an alumni, and had the Jackrabbit laser engraved into the handle, and then added a decal (bought from Scheels).
I really like how this one turned out, can’t wait to see how much it goes for at the auction.

Had an amazing day fishing with friends on Lake Oahe in the Cheyenne River. The morning chill gave way to sunshine and warmer temps later on. We landed some chunky fish and I picked up some crucial tips for the upcoming jig rap rod designs. Now it’s back to the workshop!
