Humble Parlor opens by announcement. Thursday the announcement came with a new beer attached. 🙌

Monthly run to Brewery in Philly, and Maria had it dialed. Doors open at 6:30, backyard lit up, and a brand new Czech pale lager called Kousek freshly on tap. Crisp, cold, 4.1%, and exactly what you want waiting at the end of a humid three miles.

Ninety degrees and sticky, and the crew showed up anyway. Big group, new faces in the mix, and a backyard nobody was in a hurry to leave. 🍻

Maria, you rock. Thank you for opening the doors for a pile of sweaty runners and pouring something brand new while you were at it.

THIS THURSDAY: we run to Bonks Bar out in Port Richmond. Freddy picked it, Freddy’s leading it. 🦀

OCTOBER 6TH: First Tuesday out and back from Urban Village Brewing Company. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Every good night has somebody behind it. Thursday night it was Ally Chialastri. 🙌

She called ahead, locked in a group deal, then turned around and led the run herself. Two jobs, one person, on one of the hottest Thursdays of the summer.

The result: a big crew at Parks on Tap in Friends of Penn Treaty Park, $5 pints that went through at the door with zero friction, and the Delaware going gold behind us as the sun dropped. Thank you Parks on Tap for looking after a crowd of sweaty runners. 🍻

Ninety degrees and thunderstorms in the forecast, and it still turned into one of the better Thursdays of the year. That happens more often than you’d think around here.

NEXT THURSDAY: monthly run to Brewery in Philly, 6:30 at the water tower. Alex and Maria are ready for us.

OCTOBER 6TH: First Tuesday out and back from Urban Village Brewing Company. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

CORRECTION TO A PREVIOUS POST. 📝

Last week we announced that Thursday was the final run for AG and Clarissa Grinham. Very moving. People left hearts. We felt good about it.

Then they showed up Tuesday and ran First Tuesday with us. 😂

So that’s on us. Consider this the real one, and consider our record on predicting these two officially retired. By now they’re either somewhere on I-95 or already unpacking boxes in Virginia. Either way: come back and run whenever you want, we clearly cannot be trusted to say goodbye properly.

The rest of the night ruled too. Hot, humid, and a genuinely packed table at Urban Village Brewing Company afterward. Out and back along the river, everybody picking their own mileage, Happy Hour held open for the crew. First Tuesday does not miss. 🍻

TONIGHT: we run to Parks on Tap at Friends of Penn Treaty Park, 6:30 under the water tower. From 7 to 9 our group gets $5 select drafts and $5 house mixed drinks. Tell them at the ID check that you’re with NLRC.

NEXT FIRST TUESDAY: October 6th, back at Urban Village.

Ten turned thirty five on Thursday, and Philly showed up for it. 🎸

We ran to Future Days Beer Company for their Ode to Pearl Jam and walked into a room that was already going. A PEARL JAM 10 banner hanging from the rafters. Setlists from every Philly show they ever played, papered across the back wall. Nothing but PJ on the speakers. And Tattooed Everything pouring, the Black IPA they brewed for the night, named straight out of the lyrics to Black.

A brewery named after a Pearl Jam song throwing a party for a Pearl Jam record. Of course it went off.

Thank you to Future Days for kicking ten percent of the day to the Vitalogy Foundation, and for being cool about a crowd of sweaty runners rolling into the middle of it. 🍻

Now the part we didn’t want to write.

Thursday was the last run for AG and Clarissa Grinham, who move to Virginia on Tuesday.

They joined a little over a year ago and were instantly ours. It genuinely feels like they’ve been in this club far longer than that. They will be missed, a lot.

Doors are always open, you two. ❤️

THIS TUESDAY: First Tuesday out and back from Urban Village Brewing Company, 6:30.
