Congratulations to Mr. Guy for earning his blue belt and Mathew for earning his first stripe. Mr. Guy is 62 years old but he comes to every jiu jitsu and striking class. Even at his age, Mr. Guy continues to show improvement with his fitness levels, flexibility, and skills. We're proud of Mr. Guy and Mathew for working hard and smart to get better!

Hello everybody! In observation of Memorial Day, the Illinois Valley YMCA is closed today and there are no classes this evening.
Moreover, the next competition that we will be attending is Newbreed in Oak Lawn on June 13.

On Saturday, we had three competitors compete in Springfield, IL. Owen, Kira, and Kal went a combined 18W-2L in route to 7 golds and a bronze. It was Owen's first tournament, and he fought hard and smart like a seasoned competitor. Owen picked up four wins and two golds in his own divisions, and he challenged himself against higher ranked students in the elite division. Kira fought up a weight class to earn two golds, and Kal was a three division champ with three golds. We are proud of our competitors and we look forward to seeing everyone back on the mats! Congratulations to Elouise, Silas, Kadrias, Vivian, Kira, and Kal for earning stripes on their belts! And a huge congratulations to James and Sam for earning their grey belts! The warrior kids have been working hard and smart to get better and their progress is showing! Our kids' Jiu Jitsu room is looking strong because of these fine young people and their parents/grandparents.
**Side note** We're going to hold off on adding an extra fifteen minutes to class until Coach Gage comes back healthy. Then we will reevaluate again. Thank you to everyone that supports us!

Congratulations to Gage for being the first student to earn his blue belt exclusively at Ōkami BJJ! At just 17 years old, Gage personifies the values of our gym, because he is smart, hard working, and he treats everyone with respect. We are super proud of him and we are lucky to have him as a coach for kids class and a student in adult class! Gage will be successful at Jiu Jitsu or anything that he chooses to do in life. 👌🐺🥋
