OAKS • SOLO • EXPERIENCE

The Oaks ended the school year with a FOUR HOUR solo experience in the forest. These students practiced their nature skills and had excellent attitudes even with the damp weather conditions. Oaks, you guys rock 👏🏻

An evening celebrating this crew is always a joy! It takes a special person to teach in the forest in rain or shine and these fine humans just get it 🌧️☀️🍄

Whispers in the woods, watching nature unfold right before our eyes. 🐿️ 🐍

Ms. Kingfisher and Ms. Ginger got this up-close view during the Saplings’ 2 hour solos. During morning circle, a student asked, “What happens if there’s a snake in my solo spot?” We assured them that if that ever happened, they should come tell a teacher.

And here we are. 😅

A black snake attacked a squirrel in a tree and tumbled down just a few feet from a student. Certainly not an everyday occurrence, but one unforgettable reminder that when we slow down and sit quietly in nature, we sometimes get to witness the wild in all its raw beauty.

It's the final week of our shelter building unit! The Oaks spent the last 4 weeks building seriously solid shelters. Check these out from our Travelers Rest students! They camp out in them overnight for the ultimate test of durability.
