Intro To Bridle-less Riding
Inspired by the recent Bridle-less Horse Show in Great Britain? We were too!!! Bridle-less riding is the ultimate display of horsemanship and communication. Have you always thought that the bit and bridle were essential to collection and control? Those riders in Great Britain's first Bridle-less Show highlighted... and then shattered ...that myth.
Have you ever wanted to try riding your horse bridle-less? This is your opportunity! Let Evan Ackerly of Ackerly Equestrian Services show you the steps to develop bridle-less riding with your horse.
The bridle is merely a tool to provide information to your horse...information that can be developed and provided in other ways. Many riders use their hands far too much. This clinic will introduce riders to the art of riding without a bridle. It will begin with the introduction of a neck rope and how to properly use one to communicate with your horse. The clinic will teach how to use your other aides to provide input and clarity to your horse without the use of the bit and bridle. We will work on the body language and position of an effective bridle-less stop, rein back, and turning. We will progress through ground poles and bending poles to fine tune and challenge your understanding of the concepts. All of the presented concepts will be done at the walk. Some participants may elect to try adding a trot in the latter parts of the clinic. In this clinic, participants will remain in their bridle for safety, but work toward not using is as the clinic progresses.
REQUIREMENTS: Participants MUST be accomplished and competent Walk, Trot and Canter on their horse. This clinic is not suitable for beginner riders. Participants must be 16 or older. This clinic is NOT suitable for horses with known bolting habits or behavioral issues.

I have spent that last few days sending out emails, texts and PMS....invitations to a special day: Our Back to School, Trainer Invitational... Trainers hosting Trainers. We at Tailwind Trails are big fans of supporting each other and frequent collaborators with other professionals. If you have visited our facility with students, you already know that! If you have never come, we are hopeful that you are at least curious about who we are, what we do, and how our cross training opportunities might benefit your students and your horses, regardless of what discipline you teach, train, show or ride. Our Mountain Trail Obstacle Course and our XC Schooling Course have both recently been refreshed and expanded for the coming season, and our Equine Beach is always a favorite.

Qualifying trainers are cordially invited, FREE OF CHARGE, to our "Trainer Invitational" event, on September 16th, from 9am to 1pm. This event is FREE for invited trainers. We simply want to share our beautiful facility and program with other professionals, highlight what we do, and show you first hand the benefits of sharing your program with us.

Great day today for our team!!! Evan Ackerly of Ackerly Equestrian Services had his Dressage Debut at Jim Brandon Equestrian Center riding 1-1 and 1-2 in the Wellington Classic Dressage show aboard our stunning 12 yr old Hannovarian gelding, Stakkatos Cash, better known as “Hammy.” If you follow us, you have seen this duo excel in the Jumper ring up to 1.25M at the World Equestrian Center - Ocala, then, more recently, Hammy won several Junior Hunter and Equitation ribbons at weeks 10/11 at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington. Today, this talented pair earned two blue ribbons and two First Level qualifying scores towards an individual Bronze Dressage Medal and we could not be more thrilled. Today would not have come together without the time, talent and support of the newest member of our Coaching team, Patti Thompson, whose eye, experience and expertise were an absolutely critical and invaluable part of today’s success. Patti is a USDF Bronze Medalist, USDF L Graduate with Distinction and a WDAA Western Dressage Rated Judge! Patti is available for private lessons from Wellington to Palm City. Thank you too, to the show organizers for always putting on an organized and well run event.

Big week this week doing one of our very favorite things. Evan Ackerly of Ackerly Equestrian Services and I spent three days training the outstanding Deputies of the Mounted Unit from PBSO - Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. Busby and I were honored to ride along side them demonstrating some of the obstacles on our Extreme Mountain Trail Course. We have been working with this top notch organization since 2018. Some of the faces have changed and all of the horses are new too, but the professionalism, horsemanship and desire to excel with each ride remains constant. This week it was Equitation, Groundwork, Desensitizing and Obstacles. We had an absolute blast!

When your “Ride-A-Test” judge stands at “X” you sit up just a little taller! LOL Evan Ackerly of Ackerly Equestrian Services and our stunning Hannovarian, Stakkatos Cash make their Dressage debut this weekend at Jim Brandon Arena. Special thanks to our neighbors at Summerwood Stables LLC for allowing us to haul-in and use their beautiful Dressage Arena to prepare, as well as friend and Judge Patti Thompson for lending us her talent and judge’s eye for the ride.
