Hey community! We are doing training at the MAE Adventure Tower. Therefore, Approach will be closed to the general public this weekend both Saturday and Sunday.
We will be open for members and groups with events pre-planned. No walk-ins. See you Monday!

So excited to finally hang together at The MidAmerican Energy Adventure Tower!! Approach Members check your inboxes! The Training Event is this weekend! Friday-Sunday, August 28, 29 and 30th. We will be climbing, roller gliding and caving together. It’s our members event and is by appointment only.

****PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL OR USE THE QR CODE IN THE GYM FOR SPECIFICS AND TO SIGN UP FOR A 2 HOUR TIME-SLOT. ****
You will not be allowed to drop in. This is for training purposes and for members to play and climb! MAE Adventure Tower is NOT open to the public yet.

You can bring drinks and snacks in your climb bag as the concessions won’t be open yet.

PRIZE TIME!!!! There will be a drawing Sunday night. Winner will receive a SEASON PASS for one person to MAE Tower for 2027! Yes you read that correctly! Directions to enter at the event.

Instructional videos from the owner of Approach Climb Gym in Omaha, NE. (Kinda like free coaching 😉) Little nuggets for you to incorporate into your climbing sessions.

Momentum of the hips while going up the wall. We literally will say, “pelvis on the wall”. Where those hips are is where the weight is. Even with bent knees we’re often keeping our hips into the wall.

So far we are:
LOOKING at our toes.
STRAIGHTENING the arms and pulling into the shoulder girdle
Keeping our HIPS into the wall
Using MOMENTUM to thrust and swing the hips to move up or side to side.

Next week we do them all together 👌🏽

There’s a lotta conversation around age when climbing is mentioned. “Oh I wish I’d tried that when younger” “I’m too old to start something like that now”, etc etc.
Age isn’t just a mindset, we get that. How you function does change with age. But your drive, activities, and adventure don’t have to. We have little 2 year old crushers! And members in their 70’s! There’s an exciting lifestyle here and a whole community. We’re thriving and we’re climbing together! Approach has A LOT of families and climbers over 30. We think we’re pretty special because of it.

Climbers. You MUST warm-up and rest. Warming up leads to a stronger climbing session. Resting equates to a stronger climbing session. Less injuries, more sends, bigger gains. More friend time. Wins all around.
And! If you need friends talk to us about good times to meet-up with other climbers.

A while back two members said, “I want a gal climb group!” And boom! Week after week, a group of women kept showing up on Wednesday evening until “Wednesday Climbing” became a regular thing.

That’s one of our favorite things about climbing. Community grows naturally when people keep saying, “See you next week.”
