We’re really excited to announce that Kim’s first children’s book is now available to read and purchase.
It’s Okay to Trust an Expert tackles an increasingly important topic: how do we help kids navigate conflicting information, strong opinions, and the growing influence of anti-intellectualism?
The story follows Dani, a curious kid who becomes confused by all the conflicting messages she hears from the adults around her. When she asks her dad how she’s supposed to know who to trust, they have a conversation about why people sometimes feel certain that they’re right.
Sometimes people hold tightly to their beliefs because they’re scared. Sometimes they aren’t curious enough to question what they already believe. And sometimes, they simply don’t know.
Experts spend years, and often decades, studying, training, and working within a particular field. That doesn’t mean we should believe everything an expert says without question. It means their expertise should carry more weight than the opinion of someone who hasn’t spent that same time developing knowledge in the field.
The goal isn’t blind trust. It’s curiosity, critical thinking, and discernment.
We live in a time when anti-intellectualism and the dismissal of expertise can have very real and sometimes harmful consequences. This book offers families a simple, approachable way to start conversations about how we decide what information deserves our attention.
Kim is passionate about helping people understand coercive control, cognitive biases, and problematic thinking patterns. It’s Okay to Trust an Expert is one way to begin teaching kids how to think critically while keeping the conversation accessible and age-appropriate.
The book is available FREE through Kindle Unlimited, and hardcover copies are available for purchase through the link in our bio!
