Other people: “They’re not old enough for high adventure.” “You might want to keep good watch on that crew.” “They’re not mentally or physically mature enough.”

Troop 106: “Watch us!”

A BIG congratulations to the Scouts from the Sam Houston Area Council, Scouting America, for being the first ever “all 13-year old” crew to conquer the swamp! Great job, y’all!

There is a new High Adventure base out there on the old footprint of Camp Steiner in Utah. Sunrock High Adventure Base will have full operations in 2025. Check out the initial information on he base. Looks like a great area for a Scout adventure.

So sad to see this announcement. Scott Thiessen was a great person. He was a great supporter of Scouting and Zink High Adventure Base. He was also one of the initial supporters of the High Adventure Scouting podcast and appeared several times. My troop did an adventure at Z-Base in 2021 and had a blast. Until we meet again Scott.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Scott Thiessen, our Director of Support Services.

Scott began his role with the Indian Nations Council in 2014, brought in to assist in the development and build-out of the Zink High Adventure Base and its programs. He started his career in the W.D. Boyce Council and also worked in the Mississippi Valley Council.

Scott was an Eagle Scout and a passionate outdoorsman, chasing 14ers and enjoyed long distance running.

There will be an informal come and go Celebration of Life held at the Indian Nations Council Office (4295 S. Garnett Road, Tulsa) on Friday, July 12th from 3 - 5 PM.

Please keep Scott's family in your thoughts and prayers.
