POV: you just got the best neck manipulation of your life.

That relief feels great but this is why it matters.

Your neck and upper back play a bigger role in throwing than most people think. If your neck is stiff, it can be harder to keep your head steady and your eyes locked on the target through the delivery. If your upper back is restricted in rotation or extension, your trunk can’t turn and extend the way it should, which may lead to your shoulder blade having a harder time getting into position. When that happens, the shoulder and elbow often pick up the slack, which means more stress where you don’t want it.

Manipulation can help reduce pain and stiffness, aiding how those joints move, even if it’s just temporary. The goal is to use that window to train mobility and stability, leading to better mechanics. Training these areas help those changes hold up on the mound and in the field.

Said simply: First feel better, then move better.

Remember: the fix isn’t in the manipulation, or any treatment for that matter. The fix is training your body to move well for your sport. Treatment opens the door, training is what keeps you healthy and performing.
