XC meet this week at Fultondale!

Great news for our friend at Susan Moore.

I bring you Good News after a frightening scene last night at the Susan Moore vs Glencoe (AL) High School football game.

Susan Moore’s Lucas Beard was discharged from UAB Hospital this morning at 1:30.

Lucas went down on the last play of the half last night.
Lucas’ mom Haley tells me her son’s legs went numb after the play- he did suffer a concussion and a stinger to his neck/spine.

Team trainers and first responders tended to Lucas for nearly 30 minutes, placing him on a board- Lucas was airlifted to UAB.

“I believe medics immobilized Lucas’ neck as a precautionary measure. I also think there might have been some heat and dehydration involved,” said Haley.

The Beard family wants to thank all of those who have expressed concern, including head coach Wes Patterson and his staff (coaches Patterson and Devin Totherow pictured here with Lucas early today outside the hospital).

I know everyone in my Facebook family will send their best to Lucas.

Skins win it 65-14 over Holly Pond! Congratulations to junior quarterback Sam Garrison, tonight’s CA Russell CDJR Player of the Game!
Sam rushed for 150 yards and 4 touchdowns on 6 carries and went 6/12 passing for 141 yards and 1 TD!

Sophomore RB Cy Dilliapree rushed for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns on 8 carries. 8th grade RB Dee Bothwell ran for 95 yards and 1 touchdown on 11 carries.

Senior WR Maddox Byrd had 2 catches for 68 yards and 1 touchdown.
