Has anybody ever said what became of Ringo?

He was the horse at the front. The one they taught to bow. When the cameras stopped, he went home to Warm Springs Ranch in Missouri with the rest of them, and nobody wrote another word about him.

The only person who has ever said his name out loud is Amy Trout, who runs that ranch. She called him one of her favorites and a magnificent animal, and said she was happy to have cared for him for many years.

She said that in 2022, and she said it in the past tense.

Clydesdales live a long time when they are cared for, and that one was. Somewhere in a Missouri pasture, a horse who knelt for a grieving country got to grow old with people who loved him.
