Week 1 is in the books! The difference between Monday and Friday is always so fun to see. Smiles are starting to emerge, nerves are beginning to calm and each student is progressing at their own pace 🥰 Thankful for each of my families trusting the process!

He began lessons with me at just 10 months old. At 3.5 years old, he is a little torpedo in the water. Over the years, he has come for skill advancement, refreshers and maintenance lessons to keep fine tuning his skills as he grows. I hadn’t been in the pool with him in three months but the practice with mom and dad this summer has paid off because his skills look stronger than ever. Now he gets to sit back and encourage little brother as he begins his ISR journey 🥰

Five years ago I began this incredible journey! 🥳

There are over 200 children in our area who are better equipped for a water emergency 🤩

Most have come back several times over the years to enhance and strengthen their skills as they have gotten older 💪🏼

A handful of known real life situations where a child has successfully used their self-rescue skills in an emergency 🥹

Over 10, that I know of, have joined local swim teams 🏊🏻‍♀️

6 different pool locations 😍

Countless hours of me being there for my children after school and during school breaks 🩵💜

So many smiles, laughs and lifelong friendships made poolside 🥲

Here’s to the next 5 years of making water safer, one child and one lesson at a time 😅

We can’t always prepare the road for the child but we can prepare the child for the road ahead. Children ages 6 months to 6 years old are able to learn live saving skills all while building a strong and healthy relationship with the water 🩵

Did she cry during her lessons? Yes
Was she so proud of herself after each one? Also yes 😍 Some people take the crying as a negative in swim lessons but the truth is, learning how to self-rescue is hard work! As adults, we aren’t always happy to do the hard things either and for little ones, the way they often communicate that is through crying. We worked slowly and gently through each step so that through the hard, she was learning to trust me and herself. She persevered through the hard and that is a life lesson that you can’t learn too early in life 🥰
