This morning as we were getting ready to head to the gym, I saw Lo's shake on the table with his vitamins out- I felt proud. On the outside looking in it's not a big deal, to Dad (myself) it's discipline. It's teaching these kids a habit, not a fad, not temporary, not seasonal, a lifestyle to follow as they grow older and eventually leave the home.

Later in my morning routine I read my scripture for the day. "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." -Proverbs 22:6

As I read this I thought about all the times I've fought my kid over missing shakes, not wanting to lift, missing training sessions, missing prayers etc.

At the time I question myself- am I being too hard, do I expect too much structure - but here we are years later, it's became routine.

He knows a talk with God, a bottle of water, a protein shake and vitamins need to be taken before leaving the house, he knows that he lifts & runs first thing in the morning, he knows what time his practices are and when to be ready- gear packed.

I don't have to stand over him every second anymore- That’s the part that makes me proud. Because somewhere along the way, the things I had to constantly remind him to do started becoming things he reminds himself to do.

Parents, it’s our duty to train our kids to develop good habits. To teach them discipline, structure, responsibility, faith and the importance of taking care of their bodies.
Every one of us wants our kids to grow up and live long, healthy, happy lives.

One of the greatest things we can do for them is not just tell them how to live that way—but SHOW them, teach them and make those habits part of their everyday lives.

They’re going to fight you on it sometimes. They’re going to complain. You’re going to question whether you’re being too hard.

But one day, what you had to make them do will become what they choose to do. And hopefully, long after they leave our homes, those habits will still be with them.

We aren’t just raising kids. We’re building the adults they are become.

Happy birthday to the resident RBF (resting buisness face) Courteni.

This week I’m breaking down the old-school, no BS way to weight loss—how to figure out exactly how much you need to eat, how many calories you need to burn each day, and how to put it all together to reach your goal.

It's science boys. Enjoy.

What’s up homies, hope everyone has had a great week. Its back-to-school season and to be honest it’s made me a little emotional. Seeing everyone’s back to school photos is just a reminder...

When people think of exercise it's always about losing weight or gaining muscle, but it is so much more than that.

It's quality of life and longevity.

Pamela told me a story this morning about her 6 year old great grandson and I thought wow, this kid really hit the nail on the head.

She was having a discussion with him about her exercising, and he responded with:

"Well you work hard so when I'm 12 and Kason is 6 you can play games and football with us, and sprint home with us."

This kid gets it, and I hope you guys do too. At a certain point in life it's not about aesthetics, it's about staying fit enough to enjoy life with your kids, then your grandkids and eventually your great grandkids.

Thanks for the wise words Lane.

You know schools back in session when the morning crew is back together.....

Well most of them anyways.

We poured out a little Gatorade for the fallen homies.

In honor of school returning, we did a refresher course on English this morning.

I learned that I need to enroll in Elementary school and start from the beginning 🤣

But seriously, I've loved seeing everybody's back to school photos.

Post those back to school photos, you know I love seeing these kids grow up!

I love sports, everything about them. The character that it builds, the work ethic it teaches, the life lessons given- and so much more.

So working with athletes, especially motivated athletes pumps me up in the mornings. The idea of how can we get this kid better? How can we get them in a better position to be successful in his/her sport?

Cammy Bear has been in and out of the gym since he was a kid. We've seen him grow into a heck of a soccer player and play in 2 State Championship games. Seeing him go off to college to play was a highlight of last year.

This summer he came with a vengence and eager to put size on and build strength with only one thing in his mind- earning a starting position.

Man. I'm so serious when I say, his work ethic impressed me. Before he left to school he was up 10 pounds and his lifting number exploded.

Before
Squat: 365
Bench: 205
Deadlift: 375

After
Squat: 435
Bench: 215
Deadlift: 425

I've checked in recently and he has been starting in the scrimmages and things are looking good for the season. I'm proud of you Cammy Bear, can't wait to follow you this season.

If you have an athlete, looking to increase strength, size, or just become and overall better athlete, shoot me a message I would love to help them.
