ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: DR. NATHAN ARNOLD

A man who has a long-term plan for his health and quality of life! As one of our true MCF OGs, Nathan has been part of the gym since the Riegler Road days and has helped shape the community we’ve become today.

Nathan grew up playing just about every sport he could get his hands on. In high school, he competed in basketball, football, baseball, and track, where he specialized in the 400-meter dash and high jump. He continued his football career at Michigan Tech as a tight end before transferring to MSU to complete his undergrad. From there, he earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Medicine and has now spent 26 years serving as an Emergency Room physician.

Before becoming a doctor, however, Nathan had a much different job title—farmer. He grew up working on his grandparents’ Clydesdale horse farm, a background that probably explains some of the work ethic he still carries today.

Nathan found CrossFit back in 2012 after growing tired of the traditional gym routine. When a CrossFit gym finally opened nearby, he jumped in and never looked back. More than a decade later, he’s still showing up with the same positive attitude and willingness to tackle whatever workout is on the board.

What keeps him coming back? The camaraderie, the social aspect, and the pursuit of long-term health. As someone who has spent over two decades caring for people in the ER, it’s great to see him living the healthy lifestyle that he encourages others to pursue.

Outside the gym, Nathan enjoys traveling, wake surfing, golfing, and keeping up with his three kids. His oldest daughter, Claire, attends the University of Michigan, while twins Quentin and Amelia attend Spring Lake and stay busy with their own athletic pursuits.

Syndicate Crown was the biggest and most competitive CrossFit Semifinals for teams and the crew executed well finishing 23rd in a field of 39. The weekend was long and grueling but the experience has definitely only fed their fire for more!

It was awesome watching all of you compete on the semifinal stage doing what you love! Can’t wait to see what next year brings! Congrats!

Today, we honored more than a workout.

Every Memorial Day, the Murph workout reminds us that fitness can mean something deeper. The sweat, the struggle, the shared effort — it all serves as a small reminder of the sacrifice made by the men and women who gave everything for our freedom.

Hundreds of pull-ups, push-ups, squats, and miles run are hard… but that’s the point. Exercise has a unique way of teaching resilience, gratitude, discipline, and perspective. It brings people together through challenge, and today our community showed exactly what that looks like.

We’re proud of every athlete who showed up, scaled appropriately, encouraged someone else, and carried the spirit of the day with respect.

Special Thanks to for the always amazing shirt design! Thanks Chef for sourcing and preparing the delicious breakfast! Thanks to all who donated via cash or shirt purchase, those funds will be sent off to The LT Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

Thank You to all those brave men and women and their families who have made the ultimate sacrifice to make and keep this nation free. 🦅

Huge shout out to Coach Jeff Lee!!
- He just passed his Level 2 CrossFit Certification over the weekend! 🧠
- He also recently finished 96th in the world in his age group for CrossFit Semifinals 💪
Coach Jeff embodies what it is to live the lifestyle. If it’s not snowing or raining, he’s riding his bike to work. He always has a healthy whole foods lunch packed to stay fueled between coaching and taking classes. He takes classes with his peers and moves with virtuosity. He also keeps it professional and is always on time and only brings good vibes to his personal training clients and his classes. As an employee he is flexible and always willing to cover classes or do a little extra to help keep things running smoothly. Congrats and Thanks Coach Jeff Lee for all that you do and for always leading by example!
