ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: DR. NATHAN ARNOLD
A man who has a long-term plan for his health and quality of life! As one of our true MCF OGs, Nathan has been part of the gym since the Riegler Road days and has helped shape the community we’ve become today.
Nathan grew up playing just about every sport he could get his hands on. In high school, he competed in basketball, football, baseball, and track, where he specialized in the 400-meter dash and high jump. He continued his football career at Michigan Tech as a tight end before transferring to MSU to complete his undergrad. From there, he earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Medicine and has now spent 26 years serving as an Emergency Room physician.
Before becoming a doctor, however, Nathan had a much different job title—farmer. He grew up working on his grandparents’ Clydesdale horse farm, a background that probably explains some of the work ethic he still carries today.
Nathan found CrossFit back in 2012 after growing tired of the traditional gym routine. When a CrossFit gym finally opened nearby, he jumped in and never looked back. More than a decade later, he’s still showing up with the same positive attitude and willingness to tackle whatever workout is on the board.
What keeps him coming back? The camaraderie, the social aspect, and the pursuit of long-term health. As someone who has spent over two decades caring for people in the ER, it’s great to see him living the healthy lifestyle that he encourages others to pursue.
Outside the gym, Nathan enjoys traveling, wake surfing, golfing, and keeping up with his three kids. His oldest daughter, Claire, attends the University of Michigan, while twins Quentin and Amelia attend Spring Lake and stay busy with their own athletic pursuits.
