We had our awards banquet last night and it was the perfect way to wrap up the season. This group put in a lot of work this year, and it was fun to take a night to celebrate it.

Huge thank you to the Blairs for letting us use their place—it’s such a great setup and the kids had an awesome time with volleyball, pool, and just getting to hang out together outside of practice. The food spread was absolutely fantastic, too!

Congrats to all of our award winners:

Hi MYST Families,

As we wrap up an incredible season, we are excited to share our final MYST Weekly newsletter of the year.

This season has been one to remember. From early practices to championship meets, our swimmers have shown consistent growth, resilience, and a commitment to getting better every single day. This past weekend at Zones was a strong reflection of that effort, and we could not be more proud of how our team competed.

This newsletter highlights:
- A recap of our Zone Championship meet, including best times and top finishes
- Recognition of our seniors as they prepare to graduate in the coming weeks
- Important team updates, including next season’s board
- Details for our End-of-Season Banquet on April 16

As a reminder, our banquet will be held at Folkert Community Center, with doors opening at 5:30pm and dinner at 6:00pm. This is always a fun and meaningful way to celebrate the season together, recognize our swimmers, and reflect on everything accomplished.

We encourage all families to attend and to complete the team survey at the banquet. Your feedback plays a key role in continuing to build and improve our program.

To our seniors and their families, thank you for the years of dedication to MYST. It has been a privilege to be part of your journey.

To all of our swimmers, parents, and volunteers, thank you for a fantastic season. Your commitment is what makes this team special.

We are already looking forward to what next season will bring.

Go MYST!

The final day of the YMCA State Championship brought another great session for MYST!

Marcos had a big swim in the 50 Breast, dropping over three seconds to place 8th overall. Kennedy continued her strong meet in the 8 & Under events, dropping time in all three of her races in the 25 Free, 25 Back, and 50 Free.

The afternoon session brought several podium finishes for our older swimmers. In the 15 & Over 100 Breast, Santi placed 2nd, Brayden finished 3rd with a two-second drop, and Preston placed 5th. Elizabeth also had a strong swim in the girls event, dropping over four seconds.

Good evening MYST families,

Attached is this week’s MYST newsletter.

Our swimmers had an incredible weekend at the YMCA State Championship. There were numerous best times, several top-8 finishes, and multiple State Champions. The team competed hard all weekend and represented MYST extremely well.
A big thank you to our parents for the support you give your swimmers throughout the season. From early mornings to long meet weekends, your encouragement makes a huge difference.

Day 2 results will be shared on our social media page tomorrow.

Have a great week!

Day 1 of State was a huge success for MYST!
We had a number of swimmers finish in the top 8 and several STATE CHAMPIONS crowned. The Summit boys created an exciting moment in the 100 Back, sweeping the event with a 1–2–3 finish.

The morning session brought a wave of best times. The Boys 11–12 Free Relay placed 2nd with a best time. JR placed 8th in the 200 Free, and Marcos dropped time in the 100 Breast to place 7th. Kennedy had one of the most exciting swims of the day — dropping 6 seconds in the 50 Back and WINNING STATE in her first year of swimming. What an incredible accomplishment!

Vincent had an outstanding meet, placing 2nd in all three of his events (50 Back, 100 Back, and 50 Fly) while swimming best times in each. Josiah also dropped time in the 50 Back and placed 8th overall.

The momentum continued into the afternoon. The Boys 13–14 Free Relay dropped 3 seconds and took GOLD, while the Boys 15 & Over Relay also captured 1st place with a huge 6.5-second drop. The Girls 15 & Over Relay swam a best time and placed 6th overall.

In the 50 Free, Noah placed 5th with a 0.5-second drop and a Zone qualifying time. Bryce dropped 0.4 seconds for 7th, and Isaac finished 10th. Jovie delivered another big swim, dropping 0.8 seconds to WIN the 50 Free. Sophia also swam a strong race, dropping 0.5 seconds to finish 14th.

Our Summit boys dominated the 50 Free, taking places 2 through 7, highlighted by Kaleb’s huge 0.75-second drop and a 2nd-place finish.

In the 200 Free, Noah dropped 2.5 seconds to place 7th and Brayden finished 2nd. The Summit boys Ben C., Kaleb, and Ben K. made it another thrilling event by placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd — all with best times. Less than 0.7 seconds separated the top three finishers.

Santi and Preston also had strong swims in the 200 Breast, both dropping time and finishing 3rd and 4th.

We’re excited to kick off Day 2 and see what more these swimmers can accomplish. Great job to everyone on an incredible Day 1!

Tonight! Stop by Bear Lake Tavern between 4:00–9:00 PM for dinner or drinks.

5% of the entire night’s sales will be donated back to our program, so every person who comes in helps make a difference. Bring your family, invite friends, and enjoy a great night out while supporting a great cause.

02/23/2026

As we wrap up the regular season, please note that this upcoming week will be the final week of practice for any swimmer who did not qualify for State or Zones. Clusters was their last meet of the season, and we are incredibly proud of how they finished. Ending with best times and strong performances is something to celebrate. We will use this final week to reinforce technique, celebrate progress, and close out the season the right way.

For our State and Zone qualifiers, practices will continue as we prepare for championship competition. Details for the State Championship can be found in this week’s newsletter.

Fundraiser Reminder – Tuesday at Bear Lake Tavern
Join us Tuesday from 4:00pm–9:00pm at Bear Lake Tavern (360 Ruddiman, North Muskegon, MI 49445). A portion of all dine-in and take-out sales during that time will be donated back to MYST. This is an easy way to support the team — grab dinner, invite friends, spread the word. Every bit helps our program.

As an added bonus, it’s Coach Mitchell’s 30th birthday. We’ll celebrate him after practice, and we’d love to see families at BLT as part of the celebration.

Let’s finish the season strong, in the water and as a team community.

Good Afternoon MYST Families,

Please see the attached newsletter for this week’s updates.

Registration for the YMCA State Championship Meet is now open. Please review the information and deadlines carefully.

We also need timer volunteers for the upcoming Cluster Meet. Our team is required to provide 2 timers per session (6 total). If we do not meet this requirement, our swimmers may not be permitted to compete.

Timing is very simple. Officials on deck will walk you through exactly what to do. If you’re hesitant, I understand — but it truly is straightforward. When I’ve timed before, I’ve asked someone to time alongside me so you know the person you’re working with. It makes the session more enjoyable, and the swimmers genuinely love having their parents on deck.

Please let me know ASAP if you are able to volunteer. If I do not receive enough responses, I will assign families to ensure we fulfill our requirement.

Our swimmers work hard and deserve the opportunity to compete. Thank you for stepping up to support them.

Thank you,
Marissa
