FINAL — George Rogers Clark 6, Ashland 3

The Lady Cardinals survived a late scare, but when the final strike crossed the plate, George Rogers Clark was headed to the state quarterfinals.

Ashland refused to go quietly in the bottom of the seventh.

Addison Wolfe battled through a lengthy at-bat before lining a single to start the inning.
Abby Lynch fought off a pair of pitches but ultimately grounded back to Lilli Hill for the first out, with Wolfe advancing.
Brookelyn Duckwyler followed with a single to center, putting runners at the corners and bringing the tying run to the plate.
On the very first pitch she saw, Jenna Delaney delivered Ashland's biggest swing of the night, launching a three-run home run that scored Wolfe and Duckwyler and suddenly cut the deficit from 6-0 to 6-3.
The Kittens kept the pressure on when Zoey Smith reached on a double aided by a Morgan Bennett error, bringing the potential tying run into the on-deck circle.
Addi Laine worked ahead 2-0 before lifting a foul ball to right field for the second out, with Smith advancing to third.
That left the game in the hands of Paige Harmon. Hill jumped ahead with two strikes, Harmon battled back to 2-1, but Hill delivered one final strike to record the game's final out and send the Lady Cardinals into celebration mode.
