🇺🇸 25 Years Later. We Still Remember.

September 11, 2001 is one of those days when you never forget where you were.

For me, that memory carries an especially personal meaning.

I had joined the United States Navy in June of 2001, right after graduating high school. By September, I had just finished boot camp and was still in Great Lakes, Illinois, attending Navy electrician training school.

Then the towers were hit.

Like everyone else, I watched in disbelief as our country changed in a matter of hours. But as a brand-new sailor, there was another realization that hit me pretty quickly:

I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

I had raised my hand just a few months earlier and volunteered to serve our country. Suddenly, that commitment felt very different. It was becoming clear that America would likely be going to war, and none of us knew what the coming months and years would bring.

Twenty-five years later, I still remember that feeling.

Today, I remember the 2,977 lives lost, the families whose lives changed forever, and the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, military members, and ordinary Americans who answered tragedy with extraordinary courage.

I also remember what happened afterward.

We came TOGETHER.

For a time, differences didn't seem nearly as important. We were neighbors. We were Americans. And we took care of one another.

As a Veteran, a Husband, a Father, and now a small-business owner, I hope we never lose sight of that.

25 years later, we remember.
We honor.
We remain grateful.
