Last week, our East Nashville Clinic Director, Sandy Hardwick, served as a panelist at the Department of Physical Therapy at Tennessee State University's Professional Behaviors and Real-World Expectations Panel Discussion for Doctor of Physical Therapy students.

Sandy answered students' questions and shared her clinical expertise, real-world experience, and career insights to help prepare the next generation of clinicians as they enter the profession.

When Shane first started physical therapy with Katie at our Clarksville clinic in April, he was unable to walk or bear weight following an ankle fracture and surgery. Based on his symptoms, his treatment also focused on Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), which was officially diagnosed just a few weeks ago.

Today was a major milestone as Shane walked into the clinic without an assistive device for the first time! 🎉

To continue progressing his nerve desensitization therapy, we incorporated a fun painting activity using paintbrushes, cloths, and finger paint on the affected area. His mom, Lee, came with him today, and our PT student, Olivia, joined in the fun! 🖌️🎨

We’re so proud of the hard work Shane has put into his recovery and the progress he continues to make. We can’t wait to see him reach his next milestone. Keep up the great work, Shane! 👏💙

This summer, our STAR Physical Therapy - Mt. Pleasant team is proud to partner with the American Cancer Society, whose mission is to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, so everyone has the opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.

🎉 Congratulations to Ben Nguyen on passing the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist board examination and earning her OCS certification! 🎉

An Orthopedic Clinical Specialist is a physical therapist who has earned board certification in orthopedics through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). This certification reflects deep expertise in evaluating and treating musculoskeletal conditions, guiding post-surgical rehabilitation, and applying evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes.

Earning the OCS credential requires extensive clinical experience and months of preparation to pass a rigorous exam. Fewer than 5 percent of licensed physical therapists in the United States hold this distinction.
