Once again, thank you on behalf of the club membership and myself for your participation of our 1st USPSA Level 2 event. While it was a grueling 9 days total, it was one of the most rewarding events to bring together club members and others from other parts of the state and other surrounding states. 4 days getting props organized, painted, built / 1 day for hardcover for one person / 2 days building stages / 2 days for staff and competitors shooting. Thank you for this! There were many people to thank for the help in getting the match started and completed with all the tasks needed.
Friday began with some issues with my mistakes on the scoring software not being correct with what was on the stage. I did not double check that morning as part of my last part on the checklist. We got things corrected when it was noticed and you will see them listed as an entry on Practiscore results for the match. We did have some reshoots on this day. These reshoots were valid and authorized by the Match Director in accordance with the USPSA Rulebook.
Stage 3 listed on the matchbook was thrown out due to competitive equity. After speaking with Troy (DNROI) and the Range Master (Robert Standley), the stage was tossed. It wasn't because of pass throughs from a target into the barrel which did strike the sw***er target. These hits could have been identified due to placement of the hit and the height of the barrel. That was not the concern. The concern was that if the steel was down which activated the sw***er and then the left side targets were engaged, there was a pass through that we would not be able to identify due to plastic on the targets. The stage would have been a perfect stage to shoot if that target placement was left about 2.5 feet. I did not see this initially. This is MY FAULT and MY FAULT only. I am sorry for this oversight. I would have rather had this stage tossed then have the potential controversy that it would have caused in the aftermath.
Saturday began with an imminent desire to move through the stages quickly and efficiently to miss the forecasted downpour of rain predicted for the latter part of the afternoon. The last thing we wanted was to inhibit the Saturday shooters from getting the best possible scoring due to weather related delays or issues.
