CrossFit asks A LOT of your body. You’re lifting heavy, moving fast, jumping, sprinting, doing high-volume work, and asking your muscles to perform over and over again.
That kind of training requires fuel.
Carbs are your body’s preferred fuel source for high-intensity exercise, which means that pre-workout carbs can help you walk into the gym with the energy to actually DO the workout instead of just surviving it.
And then comes the part people often forget: recovery.
Your workout is the stimulus. Nutrition helps your body respond to that stimulus.
-Carbs help replenish glycogen and refuel you for your next session.
-Protein provides the amino acids your muscles need to repair and rebuild.
-Adequate overall calories give your body the energy it needs to recover and adapt.
And here’s the kicker: under-fueling your training or consistently working out fasted may actually be getting in the way of the progress you’re working so hard for.
If you’re showing up to class with an empty tank, struggling to hit the same weights, feeling smoked halfway through the workout, and then not adequately recovering afterward… your nutrition might be the missing piece.
You don’t need to eat less to perform more.
Fuel the work, feed the recovery, build the muscle and watch your self get stronger!
