Hunting R***e Match Scores
The Outdoor Range held its annual Hunting R***e Match on Sunday October 18th
It was a frosty morning but we had a decent turn out with some shooters entering more than once, firing different guns.
Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate, muffins, blueberry bread and pastries were served to the participants. Everyone had a good time, some laughs and some realizing they have to practice their offhand shooting for hunting season a little more. There were two classes, open sights and optics, mostly optics. Here are the results;
Optics Class: Jon Carey 1st place. Doug Pisano 2nd place. Tie for 3rd place between Richard Rossetti and Ali Ouellette. Tie for 4th place between Greg Lord and Richard Rosetti. Ron Witten 5th place. Tie for 6th place between Jane O’Brien and John Hincman and Jon Carey shot 7th place in optics with his 45-70.
Jon Carey also took 1st place in the open sights class.
Prizes were awarded the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each class. 1st place prize was a portable universal gun cleaning kit. 2nd place prize was two rechargeable hand warmers and 3rd place prize were flashlights with blue light capability for tracking blood trails. Hope to see more participants at next year’s shoot.

Well, we had great weather and a good turnout for the Outdoor Range 100 Yard R***e Bench Match for Saturday 6/20/26. The participants shot a total of 22 strings of fire. The competition was fierce and the shooting was great. 10 rounds per target with a lot of 100's and X's- two classes- open sights and optics. There was a race for top score in optics but in the end the win in optics went to member Jon Carey with a 100 & 10 X's with a tight group, he just edged out Dave Quartarone who came second with a 100 & 10 X's but a slightly larger group. Third place in optics was John O'Hara with 100 & 9 X's. First place in open sights was Jon Carey with 100 & 4X's, Bruce Kapsten won second place with 98 & 2X's- he shot a Uberti replica of a Wi******er 1885 High Wall in 45-70, shooting 500 gr. bullets. Third place in open sights was John Koza with a 93 & 1X. 1st place in the women's division went to Jane O'Brien who shot a respectable 82 shooting a borrowed r***e. The top shooters all received medals. Hope to have this again next year. I want to thank all who participated and to the volunteers who helped out- Thanks.

Paladin Group Training and the Outdoor Range hosted the Women's Only Fun Shoot on Sunday April 26 at 11 AM at the Outdoor Range. 16 Women showed up and had fun shooting .22 caliber pistols and .22 r***es. Those that didn't have pistols or r***es, the ODR Crew provided them as well as the ammo and ear & eye protection. The Shoot was open to all female members, their female family and female friends and the female family and female friends of all male members—as long as they were at least 18 years of age. No Fi****ms License was needed to compete.
There was Range Safety Officers/Coaches to maintain safety and assist competitors with the handling of guns. Light refreshments were served courtesy of Paladin Group Training.
Competitors shot 10 rounds from .22 pistols and 10 rounds from .22 r***es- the targets were scored with a possible high score of 200.
The results are as follows: 1st Place winning the Gold Medal was Chelsy Oliver with a score of 191. 2nd Place winning the Silver Medal was Rebecca Ferrante with a score of 186. 3rd Place winning the Bronze Medal was Kristin Hanson with a score of 185 with 3 X's.4th Place with a score of 185 with 1X was Kathy Ward. Joann Terry and Nora Clark were tied for 5th Place with a score of 178 with 3 X's each. -Jane O'Brien came in 6th Place with 175, 7th Place – Phyllis Dauwer, 8th Place- Sheri Crowe, 9th Place-Juile Smith, 10th Place - Mary Egan, 11th Place - Deb Moreau, 12th - Place Gabrielle Montevecchi, 13th - Place Holly Gasparini, 14th - Place Dorothy Athanas, 15th - Place Mary O'Neill.

We just had a great series of classes at DFGC--R***e 1.0 on Friday, Pistol Workshop on Sat., and Sh***un 1.0 on Sunday. Thanks to all who participated (the R***e and Sh***un 1.0 classes were full)---nice to see folks coming out of hibernation to train!
