If a stretch never makes you sore, it might not be changing much.

We've been sold the idea that stretching should feel like a gentle, floaty cooldown. Sometimes it should. But if your goal is to actually change a stubborn pattern, the work has to reach the muscle — and muscle that's been retrained can feel worked the next day, the same way it would after a good strength session.

That soreness isn't damage and it isn't a warning. It's the feeling of tissue that got asked to do something new. Hydrate, move gently, let it settle. Then notice how the area feels a few days later.

Different tool, different result. Stop stretching. Start correcting.

Think of your muscles like a sponge, not a rubber band.

A rubber band snaps back the instant you let go — which is exactly what passive stretching feels like. A sponge is different. Work it, and it soaks up change and holds it.

Corrective Stretching Technique keeps the muscle active while it lengthens — roughly 20% of your effort pushing against me while I slowly guide you deeper. That little bit of "on" is the whole trick. It tells the brain you're strong and in control at the new length, so it stops guarding and lets the range stick.

It's closer to a targeted workout than a cool-down. And yes — you might be a little sore after. That means it worked.

Do this to unlock your shoulders — the corrective way.

Rounded shoulders usually aren't a "stretch your chest more" problem. The chest is tight because it's compensating — often for a mid-back that doesn't move well and shoulder blades that have forgotten how to sit down and back. So we don't yank the chest open. We get the muscle working as it lengthens, and let the joint find room it actually forgot it had.

The change didn't come from force. It comes from the nervous system deciding this position is safe to keep.

This is what a session looks like — reading your body, then retraining it.

You've been stretching that hamstring for months. It's still tight every morning. That's not a discipline problem — it's a method problem.

Passive stretching — pulling a muscle long and holding it — mostly asks your nervous system to tolerate a position for 30 seconds. The second you stop, your brain files it under "vulnerable" and pulls the length right back. Nothing changed structurally. You just visited a longer position and left.

Resistance stretching does the opposite. You keep the muscle working while it lengthens. That tells your brain: this range is strong, this range is safe, keep it. That's the difference between renting flexibility and owning mobility.

Stop stretching. Start correcting.

This is Modified Ashiatsu — intentional pressure from body weight, not hands. When combined with Corrective Stretch Technique, it reaches deeper layers of fascia that manual pressure alone can't access. The result is faster release and longer-lasting correction. There is nothing else like this in Miami.

We've been taught to silence pain — ice it, stretch it out, push through it. But your body is always trying to protect you. Tightness is protection. Pain is a signal. Where you feel it is rarely where it starts. That's what we uncover together in a Corrective Stretch Technique (CST) session — the root, not just the symptom.

Your body has the answers. I help you hear them. Comment '30day' for my free Mobility WOD, or 'book' to schedule a session in person or online.

Where you feel the pain, is usually not the source of the pain. For example, if you feel this in your lower back instead of your butt, your glutes are sleeping. Inactive glutes = your low back doing all the work, all day. This is one of the most common patterns I see in desk workers.

If stretching your back isn't helping, your body is telling you something. Start fixing it with my free 30-Day Mobility WOD — or by scheduling an in-person or online session. Comment '30day' for my free mobility WOD or 'book' to schedule a session.

At every big-box stretch studio, you lie there while someone pulls on your muscles. You feel good for an hour. Then you sit in your car and it all comes back.

MastroStretch Corrective Stretching is different — you're not passive. You contract as you lengthen. That's what creates lasting change.

Flexibility without control is a liability. I've worked with people who are incredibly mobile and still have chronic pain — because their nervous system can't control the range they have. Corrective Stetching Technique (CST ) builds strength AT end-range. Not just length. That's the difference.

If this resonates, your body is ready to be corrected — not just stretched. Book a session or grab my online starter program.
