It's not just in your head—it's science!

When you hit that chilly water, your body kicks into survival mode. Blood vessels in your arms and legs constrict to protect your vital organs, and your body starts working overtime to stay warm. Since water pulls heat away from you about 25 times faster than air, your metabolism ramps up and may even trigger shivering.

The New England dive community is a small one, and we are heartbroken to hear about the fire at East Coast Divers. We are thinking of their entire team and everyone impacted, and we are wishing them strength and support in the days ahead. We are also grateful to the first responders working the scene and hoping everyone is safe.

We know many people have questions about the situation involving East Coast Divers, but we ask everyone to avoid speculation or sharing unconfirmed information while the situation is still developing and first responders continue their work.
