If you’re too sore to play golf, it’s most likely one of these two things.
1. You’re doing the wrong type of training.
If you are running some bro-split — chest day, leg day, back day — hammering one body part into the ground. That’s a ton of volume dumped on one muscle group in one session. Of course you’re wrecked for three days.
I train golfers full body instead. Spread the volume across the week, hit everything a little, and never load up any one area so hard that you can’t get on the course. You stay fresh. You stay swinging. That’s the whole point.
2. You’re not consistent enough.
And this is where most of you actually live.
You train once. Maybe once every couple weeks. Your body has zero conditioning, so that “first workout back” lights you up. You get sore, you get discouraged, you quit. Then a few weeks later you start over and feel exactly the same soreness again.
Rinse. Repeat. Never progress.
Here’s the truth: soreness isn’t from training hard. It’s from training rarely. The golfers who never get sore aren’t tougher than you. They just never stop. Consistency is the cure. Your body adapts fast when you give it a reason to.
Fix those two things and lifting stops stealing your golf and starts adding to it.
